Today, we're doing a deep dive into some of the top sleepers in 6A's District II. These guys all stood out in 2023, but have yet to see a ton of recruiting attention. Some have FBS-level potential, while others could be steals for someone on the lower levels of college football. Make no mistake though, they all have potential as prospects at the next level.

Midland

RB: [player_tooltip player_id='1421038' first='Elijah' last='McCoy'], 5'10" 190, 2025

Blazing 10.64 100m speed with the production to go with it, 1,560 total yards, and 23 touchdowns in 2023. He runs with good forward body lean, he's got a strong lower half to go along with exceptional balance through initial contact.

OL: Jett Garcia, 6'2" 280, 2025

He's undersized from a vertical stature standpoint, but man does he play with an attitude. He fires off the ball low with nasty intentions and gets his second step in the ground in a hurry. He's constantly looking for more work and wants to impose his will on opposing defenders.

OL: Pulelei'ite Primus, 6'4" 315, 2026

A massive interior prospect who overwhelms his opponents with pure size and can bend at the knees & ankles. He punches on a rise, gets steady turnover on his knee drive, and looks to finish every block that he makes. Should be a Power Four kid when it is all said and done.

Midland Legacy

WR: [player_tooltip player_id='1507591' first='Caden' last='Ellis'], 5'10" 190, 2026

A pristine route runner who explodes out of his cuts and can generate separation between himself and the defender. He has good speed, flashes sudden hands, and has the wiggle to avoid second-level reroutes.

Odessa

WR: Andrew Rodriguez, 6' 180, 2026

This young man is a catch & tuck runner with plenty of build-up speed after the catch. He's rarely brought down by the first tackle attempt, he knows how to eat up a corner's inside leverage, and is a nightmare to guard when the pocket collapses and the scramble drill commences.

Odessa Permian

DB: Braden Garcia, 6' 190, 2026

A safety prospect who has no issues playing at the second level and giving run support within the box. He's got above-average ball skills, knows when to tempo down or speed up his pedal, and shows quite a high motor chasing down ball carriers from the backside.

DB: [player_tooltip player_id='408654' first='Caleb' last='Cruz'] 5'10" 170, 2027

A consistent corner with good feet, natural concept awareness, and the ability to lay the wood as an outside-in perimeter support player. He's sticky in press, shoots his hand at pass attempts instead of swatting it, and is comfortable being left alone on an island.

San Angelo Central

QB: Christian English, 6' 180, 2025

A terrific athlete that can make you pay on the ground or through the air. He's got enough arm to stretch the field vertically, he's willing to take what the defense gives him & not force anything downfield, and is extremely slippery once he gets into the open.

Wolfforth Frenship

OL: Grayson Page, 6'2" 255, 2025

Another tough interior offensive line prospect that will smack you in the mouth. Page has a vicious punch, he keeps his eyes up on double teams waiting to work to the second level and was a knockdown machine in 2023.
