Prep Redzone hosted a Combine and Camp Saturday afternoon at Grants High School. More than 70 prospects from the 2025, 2026 and 2027 classes participated in the camp. Here are our top performers:

Offensive MVP: [player_tooltip player_id='839823' first='Cheeto' last='Lumbrera III'], La Cueva. Lumbrera showed off the quickness, speed, elusiveness and the crowd-pleasing shake-and-bake moves we saw every week in the second half of last season. Lumbrera should rush for 1,200+ yards in 2024. New Mexico Highlands has offered.

Defensive MVP: [player_tooltip player_id='837220' first='Juan' last='Vigil'], Valley: Blessed with a 6-foot-5, 290-pound frame, Vigil is a man-child ready to explode. Eyebrows were first raised when he ran well in the 40. Before the testing portion of the Combine was complete, Vigil had already created a buzz among the coaches working the camp.

Eight More Standouts

[player_tooltip player_id='853556' first='Jayen' last='Barros'], La Cueva: If it seems La Cueva has an endless supply of promising young receivers, you're right. Barros is the latest to emerge and should contribute the Bears offense in 2024. He ran the 40 in under 4.6 seconds and showed soft hands.

[player_tooltip player_id='1118395' first='Logan' last='Gosnell'], Bloomfield: Once you get past the long flowing hair and the appropriate ‘Thor' nickname, you realize the 6-foot-1, 220-pound Gosnell is a very good football player. He's tough (finished 3rd in his weight class at the state wrestling championships), physical, fast and has great footwork, all traits he showed on Saturday. He'll be one the leaders of another strong Bloomfield defense in 2024.

[player_tooltip player_id='1137830' first='Pete' last='Johnson'], St. Michael's: When you're arguably the top player on Class 3A's best defense, you're probably pretty good. Johnson has great speed (ran the 40 in less than 4.6 seconds) and proved Saturday he has great lateral movement and quickness. Johnson is a major reason the Horsemen will likely be favored to reach their fourth consecutive 3A championship game.

[player_tooltip player_id='851903' first='Jacob' last='Maldonado'], Cleveland: One of the Arizona Christian University coaches said it best following Saturday's Combine – Maldonado was clearly the best wide receiver on the field. He showed promise during camping season last spring but couldn't play varsity in 2023 after transferring to Cleveland. He'll help ignite the Storm offense in the fall.

Colton McKibben, Carlsbad: There were 20+ 2027 prospects at Saturday's Combine and McKibben was one of the most impressive. First, he's listed at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds and he looks the part. Second, he has enormous promise based on his skill set (ran the 40 in just over 4.6 seconds). He made 10 tackles in his one varsity game as a freshman in 2023. In two years, McKibben will likely be one of the top LB prospects in the state.

Hershul Olloway, St. Pius X: Olloway was undeniably one of the fastest players at Saturday's Combine, running the 40 in 4.44 seconds. Like McKibben. he's also a 2027 prospect with varsity experience. However, Olloway suffered an injury and missed about half of the Sartans' season. If he stays healthy, Olloway should emerge as one of the top RBs in Albuquerque in 2024.

[player_tooltip player_id='851890' first='Taye' last='Silversmith'], Miyamura: The 6-foot-1, 245-pound Silversmith is a two-way standout for Miyamura and he earned OL MVP honors by displaying a rare combination of size, speed and strength. He still has two more years to play for the Patriots. By this time next year, he should be attracting major recruiting interest.

[player_tooltip player_id='615513' first='Kelly' last='Stevens'], Las Cruces: Stevens impressed the coaches from Arizona Christian and ENMU working Saturday's Combine with his great size (6-3, 215), strong throwing arm (best at Saturday's camp) and keen accuracy on deep balls. He usually spins the ball well, too, with a perfect spiral. The coaches from ACU and ENMU expressed interest and were seen talking with Stevens afterwards.

https://twitter.com/hot_cheeto_abq/status/1779319111941562420

https://twitter.com/Juanvigil_99/status/1779271885131591688

https://twitter.com/PrepRedzoneNM/status/1779214073189875888

https://twitter.com/jakemaldonado08/status/1779269825057173825

https://twitter.com/Hersh_Olloway2/status/1779290406263681075

https://twitter.com/TayeSilversmith/status/1779588102786330702

https://twitter.com/PrepRedzoneNM/status/1779269683344265382
