Let’s take a closer look at these under-the-radar talents who could make a significant impact on the field this season.
Daniele Nicastro
Daniele Nicastro
After a great U14 season where Daniele Nicastro led his team to the provincial finals, he has still been flying under the radar. Daniele’s speed is his best attribute by a long shot. He will blow past defenders when cutting to the outside. Daniele can accelerate with very little time and space, and he can stop and go with minimal effort. The best way to describe Daniele’s game is explosive. He can take a play that is designed to get you 5 yards and blow you away with a touchdown instead. If you are not aware of Daniele Nicastro, get ready to see a whole lot of him this season, as he will take over is OSFL.
Ty de Koning
Ty de Koning
This 6 foot 183 pound receiver, will shock you this season. On paper, he may not look the biggest, but when you watch him on film, you will be impressed by his large stature. Ty de Koning can be shifty and run sharp routes. Koning reminds me of a much more shifty and athletic TE. When watching Ty de Koning play you will see him take big hits while still making the catch which is impressive to do at such a young age. With his unique frame, he is able to be successful with all the routes on the route tree. For example, you can be confident in throwing a slant across the middle to him because of his large frame and you can still hit them with a deep ball because of his good speed and athleticism. I would definitely keep an eye on Ty de Koning this OSFL season.
Joshua Olubajo
Joshua Olubajo
Joshua Olubajo is a very physical back that can wear down your defence throughout the game. Joshua has shown many times that it is very difficult to tackle him, as his combo of physicality and speed is a nightmare for the defence. It will take multiple defenders to try to take down Joshua Olubajo because of his strong balance. What I like about his game the most would have to be that he takes pride in blocking. He will consistently, blow up linebackers and create gaps for his second back to come through. Joshua Olubajo is must watch football so don’t miss out.
Jesaiah Acquah
Jesaiah Acquah
Jesaiah Acquah is a defensive lineman that dominates your offensive line for all 4 quarters. With a 6’4″ and 285 pound body, he is a defensive coach’s dream. When he is given a 1on1 match up with another offensive lineman, he wins it most of the time with his pure strength. Jesaiah is a very talented, defensive lineman, but he does need to work on some of his techniques instead of just using his strength to bull rush the line if he wants to play at the next level. Outside of that, Jesaiah Acquah has the potential to dominate this upcoming season.
