Continue ReadingPlayer movement continues in New York with a few more reclassifications, transfers to post-grad schools, and some in-state transfers even a story of a prospect who will end up back where he starting, something his original team will be very thankful for come this fall. Some New York prospects continue to move for more playing time, better recruiting opportunities, and in this article even because of coaching changes. Not all of these moves happened in this past week as I missed a couple that went on weeks ago but all notable prospects who have new homes.
Just a note, the PrepRedzone site does take time for these players to be transferred to their new states so the high school listed may still be a player’s old school.
Hermanns will be moving from Shoreham-Wading River and joining Long Island Lutheran to team up with some of New York top skill players Aiden Simon Aiden Simon 5’8″ | 150 lbs | ATH Long Island Lutheran | 2026 State NY and Jacob Butler. A big move for Hermanns who I saw live at PrepRedzone Camp in January 2023. Hermanns has a quick smooth release and was a standout at that PrepRedonze Camp. Long Island Lutheran will get a big-time arm to help fill the hole left at QB.
Hughes briefly was enrolled or planned to enroll at Health Sciences in Buffalo and played this season after moving from McKinley but will revert back to his original home where he has been a dominant player for years at McKinley. Hughes is likely been the biggest in-state transfer this year but he ends up back where he started in what is a significant boost to the outlook on McKinley’s season.
Kafeero, a very fast and talented RB out of Franklin D. Roosevelt who has years of production under his belt has moved to Jireh Prep for a post-graduate year. Kafeero is twitchy and quick as an RB and was consistently one of the top producers at the position in New York for the past two seasons. Kafeero will be a key part of a Jireh Prep program that has a solid recent history of helping prospects utilize a PG year to play at the next level.
Levi Altshuler Levi Altshuler 6’0″ | 190 lbs | QB Iona Prep | 2025 State NY , a talented QB prospect from Iona Prep will be moving to the Berkshire School while also reclassifying to the class of 2026 and will have the ability to get multiple years of starting experience under his belt in a talented Evergreen Prep League that features schools throughout New England. Altshuler has some really quality JV tape from Iona Prep and will look to continue his development in Massachusetts.
Isaiah Teabout Isaiah Teabout 6’1″ | 165 lbs | ATH Shaker | 2025 State NY , a very talented athlete from Section II will make a move to a different Section II school. Teabout will go from Watervliet to Shaker joining an offense with some juice returning this season. Watervliet’s Head Coach Ryan Job stepped down after the season and instead of spending his last year with a new coach in Class C Teabout will jump up to Class AA and is instantly one of the most impactful in-state transfers this year.
Highlights
Will Bigham, a big OL/DL prospect from Webster Schroeder will do a post-graduate year at Blair Academy. Bigham had some local college interest but will look to expand on a successful high school career and jumpstart his recruiting at one of the top Prep schools in New Jersey. Blair Academy does have a strong past of developing New York born talent, most notably Purdue Safety Sanoussi Kane who is 2024 draft-eligible
