Leading up to the complete, 150-player list on Monday, we will count down the top 40 in more detail.
And make sure to check back following the release for additional features and notes on the 2026 cohort, including looks at debuts, stock-risers and top positional groups.
No. 10 Darryus McKinley Darryus McKinley 6'3" | 225 lbs | DL Acadiana | 2026 State LA — 6-3, 225 DL — Acadiana
The younger brother of the state’s top-ranked 2024 prospect and LSU signee Dominick has himself a strong sophomore season starting at end for their Division-I Select runner-up Wreckin’ Rams with 50 tackles, including 12 for loss and four sacks, with much of his best football appearing to come late in the season. Darryus is a tall, long athlete quick off the line, in his pass-rush moves and in pursuit of passers and ball-carriers, but plays with discipline to set the edge and recognize and pursue screen passes.
No. 9 Jakai Anderson Jakai Anderson 6'0" | 160 lbs | WR McDonogh 35 | 2026 State LA — 6-0, 160 WR — McDonogh 35
The Roneagles’ young star remains firmly in the top 10, where he debuted last offseason. Anderson is an electric playmaker with his impressive combination of short-area quickness, explosive burst and breakaway long speed that he uses well in his route-running to set up defenders and create space, as well as to rack up huge yards after the catch or on sweeps and in wildcat snaps. He has shown the ability to make some more challenging catches downfield, tracking and high-pointing the ball well in tight coverage, in stride and in the air.
No. 8 Dylan Berymon Dylan Berymon 6'3" | 305 lbs | DL Ouachita Parish | 2026 State LA — 6-3, 305 DL — Ouachita Parish
The biggest stock-riser from the preseason rankings update to now, Berymon is now listed 30 to 40 pounds stronger than last summer and with a sophomore highlight reel of remarkable explosiveness and quickness in the trenches, let alone for a 300-pound underclassman. Even in high-profile matchups against high-level competition, Berymon fires off the line to consistently blow up plays, putting blockers on the turf or out of his way with minimal resistance and wrapping up tackles behind the line.
No. 7 Richard Anderson Richard Anderson 6'4" | 280 lbs | DL Edna Karr | 2026 State LA — 6-4, 280 DL — Edna Karr
Big Rich has been among the top-10 mainstays in Prep Redzone Louisiana’s 2026 rankings and has become one of the nation’s most heavily recruited prospects in the class with great size, motor and quickness to his game inside on defense. The Cougars’ defensive tackle wrapped up 49 tackles, including 13 for loss and 11 sacks, and another 15 hurries in the regular season alone as a disruptive force up the middle.
No. 6 Brysten Martinez Brysten Martinez 6'6" | 290 lbs | OL East Ascension | 2026 State LA — 6-6, 290 OL — East Ascension
The promising sophomore moved from right tackle as a freshman to holding down the left tackle spot this fall for his Spartans with prototypical major-college size and a great combination of strength and athleticism. Martinez is quick in his first steps at the snap and moves well overall in both his pass protection and getting outside or downfield to spring running lanes. He has good reach and strong hands and shows a tenacity to finishing his blocks.
No. 5 Blaine Bradford Blaine Bradford 6'2" | 205 lbs | DB Catholic (Baton Rouge) | 2026 State LA — 6-2, 195 DB — Catholic (Baton Rouge)
Bradford missed the bulk of his sophomore season, but was back in time to make plays in the Bears’ Division-I Select state championship win. The younger of a pair of major college-bound Bradford brothers, along with Jacob in the 2025 class, is a smart, fast and physical safety who keeps his feet moving and keeps well-positioned to the right moment moment to make his breaks, covering a lot of ground quickly and arriving with often-explosive hits.
No. 4 Aiden Hall Aiden Hall 6'2" | 185 lbs | DB Edna Karr | 2026 State LA — 6-2, 185 DB — Edna Karr
Another Edna Karr standout in the state’s top 10 and another high-level national safety recruit in Louisiana’s 2026 class. Hall is a long, rangy athlete who covers a lot of ground on the back end of the defense, but appears at his best when crashing downhill and able to play physically, whether in run support or quickly shutting down screens and other underneath passes. In addition to his hard-hitting tackling ability, he’s also shown a consistent knack for punching and swiping fumbles free.
No. 3 Jabari Mack Jabari Mack 6'0" | 185 lbs | WR Destrehan | 2026 State LA — 6-0, 185 WR — Destrehan
A top-five prospect in every round of rankings updates for this class thus far, Mack is another 10-15 pounds stronger than last summer — an impressively physical athlete as an underclassman receiver — and has appeared on this spring’s 7-on-7 circuit to be playing more confidently and aggressively with each tournament. And he’s been tearing up the track in the meantime, too, including 11.26-second 100-meter and 22.64-second 200-meter times that are among the state’s best among 2026 athletes.
No. 2 Lamar Brown Lamar Brown 6'4" | 260 lbs | OL University Lab | 2026 State LA — 6-4, 260 OL — University Lab
Holding steady in the top two, Brown was exceptional up front on both sides of the ball as one of the top performers for a Cubs team that battled a challenging schedule loaded with Class 5A opponents and made a run to overtime in the Division-III Select semifinals. He played right tackle on offense where his strength, athleticism, violent hands and a nastiness to his game that all already stood out, in dominant fashion, even against older competition. Brown consistently pancaked opposing defenders or drove them backward several yards out of plays and showed the mobility to remain extremely effective pulling across the formation or locating and neutralizing defenders at the second level.
No. 1 Jahkeem Stewart Jahkeem Stewart 6'6" | 280 lbs | DL St. Augustine | 2026 State LA — 6-6, 280 DL — St. Augustine
No surprises here. Stewart entered high school as the face of Louisiana’s 2026 class and has been the top-ranked prospect in every round of rankings update thus far. Stewart’s first varsity season did not disappoint with 85 tackles, including 33 for loss and 20 sacks, for first-team all-district and first-team all-state honors in Louisiana’s highest classification. Even as an underclassman, he already practically looks the part of a college-bound prospect with not only his size, but dominant strength and quick, skilled feet and hands in his array of rush techniques.
