Eight-Man Gems: Interception Leaders

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I turn my attention to the defensive side of the ball for this report on eight-man prospects. As I continue to close out the month with reports on prospects in the eight-man ranks, here is a report on a group of defensive backs who were among the Kansas leaders in interceptions.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1215351' first='Henry' last='Hannaford'],</strong> DB, 5'10”, 165, Sunrise Christian Academy, ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Hannaford was a difference-maker on defense for the Buffaloes last season. In 10 games he picked off opposing quarterbacks 11 times. He also finished with an impressive total of 62 tackles. He is quick and makes solid reads on defense. Hannaford is disruptive as he also collected six tackles for loss, five quarterback sacks, five pass breakups, and one fumble recovery.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Daniel Cramer,</strong> ATH, 5'10”, 160, Dighton, ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Cramer is a versatile athlete with elusive speed. He finished his junior season with eight interceptions in 11 games for the Dighton Hornets. He broke up a total of 11 pass attempts and racked up 79 total tackles. Cramer also played a major role in Dighton's offensive game plan as he threw for 1,024 yards and rushed for 915. He scored nine rushing touchdowns, caught three touchdowns, and threw for 18 touchdowns.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Luke Albers</strong>, DB, 5'11”, 155, Cunningham, ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Cunnigham defensive back collected seven interceptions in 10 games for the Wildcats. He plays corner so his tackle totals were lower than some of the other athletes in this group. He did finish with 31 total tackles and two TFLs. Albers made 35 catches for 509 yards and nine touchdowns for Cunningham.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Piercen Huff</strong>, DB, 6'0”, 170, Central Christian, ‘26</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Huff has really good hands. He grabbed seven interceptions during his sophomore season and made 42 catches for the Cougars offense. He collected 95 total tackles and recovered one fumble. He scored eight total touchdowns including two on the ground. Huff runs solid routes and then can shut down opposing wideouts depending on a team's needs.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Garett Usry</strong>, ATH, 5'6”, 135, West Elk, ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Usry is a young man that coaches in multiple sports will want to get familiar with. He plays football, basketball, and baseball for the West Elk Patriots. Usry picked off seven pass attempts by the opposition during his sophomore season. He also recorded 44 total tackles and one fumble recovery. Offensively, he made 11 catches and one for a touchdown in 11 games. He is a little undersized but is also super young. Depending on which sport he decides he commits to moving forward will determine what kind of work he puts in the weight room.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
