This article will focus on the athletes that displayed a versatility to their position; whether it be a player who has displayed dominance in all three aspects of the game or a High School Quarterback whose athleticism could transfer to other positions at the next level.
At 6′ and over 200 lbs., Isaiah Hill Isaiah Hill 6’0″ | 205 lbs | RB Maryvale | 2026 NY has the physical stature to play Running Back or Linebacker at the next level. In just his sophomore season, Hill accumulated 1,112 all purpose yards and 12 touchdowns, all the while dominating opposing offenses with 41 tackles (16 for loss), 3 force fumbles, 2 interceptions and added another touchdown. He is a straight ahead runner that has a unique blend of speed and power. He is also a sound tackler with impeccable football instincts. Isaiah Hill Isaiah Hill 6’0″ | 205 lbs | RB Maryvale | 2026 NY is already getting recognition from many Division I Universities. Sky’s the limit for this young student-athlete.
Jherek Breske Jherek Breske 5’8″ | 160 lbs | DB Orchard Park | 2026 NY is a “jack-of-all-trades.” He is listed as a WR/DB/KR/PR/P and he has displayed tremendous amounts of talent at each position. He received All State honorable mention as a Punter and garnered many Special Teams Player of the Game awards in 2023. Breske is quick with good footwork. He also has excellent vision and is great at angle pursuit. Jherek Breske Jherek Breske 5’8″ | 160 lbs | DB Orchard Park | 2026 NY is poised to capitalize on his success in 2023 and have a monster junior season.
Ryan Premielewski
Ryan Premielewski
Ryan Premielewski played the entire 2023 season for Clarence’s JV team but he was a dominate force as both a Running Back and Linebacker. On offense, he gained 745 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns, with his amazing cutting ability and determination to never go down upon first contact. He also displayed blazing speed as one of his touchdowns came from 99 yards out. He is also an exceptional receiver with solid hands. On defense, he is the quintessential ball hawk. Along with his 45 tackles, he had 4 fumble recoveries and an interception (all of which were returned for touchdowns). Premielewski has great football intuition and tackles with aggression. He was a fantastic Linebacker at the JV level but his frame and body structure may be better suited as a Safety, which I think he would flourish.
Michael Taylor
Michael Taylor
Niagara Falls struggled to win in 2023 but that is not to discredit the natural talents QB Michael Taylor exhibited. Taylor is a fantastic athlete that is a nightmare when he decides to run. He has good pocket awareness and is fast and physical. Michael is extremely agile and has a knack to make something out of nothing. This is a player that can be used as a Swiss army knife; Michael Taylor can be a QB, RB or WR at the next level. The ability is there.
Mekhi Scott
Mekhi Scott
Another superb athlete that spent his sophomore season on JV, Mekhi Scott started both sides of the ball at Wide Receiver and Safety. From his DB position, he is a solid tackler and plays with high emotion. WNY Maritime/Tapestry did not throw much but that didn’t stop Mekhi from contributing with his selfless blocking skills. A Wide Receiver that blocks this well doesn’t come off the field. Scott is quick and a quality route runner. His Junior season will show if his talents can transition to the varsity level.
Chase Bonta
Chase Bonta
A two-way stud for the Jamestown Red Raiders, Chase Bonta split his time between RB & LB. As a Running Back, he is a bruiser that does not avoid contact. The way he runs gives me the old school feel that I love to watch. As a Linebacker, where his future may lie, Bonta showcased awareness and good pursuit on the ball carrier. He hits with force and his read & react time is on point. He is a solid Middle Linebacker that can stop the run between the tackles.
