<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Our tape evaluations from the class of 2025 continue as we break down the linebackers in the state of Illinois.&nbsp; Here we dive into <strong>2025 Film Room: Western Suburbs Linebackers Pt 1</strong>!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='830241' first='Dominik' last='Hulak'] (IC Catholic – 6'3” 230)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This Notre Dame commit has a huge frame at 6'3" 230 pounds.&nbsp; Moves very well for his size with his speed to the ball and relentless pursuit.&nbsp; Accelerates toward the ball carrier and chases plays downfield. Hits with a ton of force and violence!&nbsp; Good athlete all-around that is very discipline with not a lot of wasted movement while taking good angles to the ball.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='831092' first='Carson' last='Cooney'] (Oswego – 6'3” 205)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Cooney is a linebacker that is very stout against the run. Stands up in the hole and makes the tackles over and over. Punishes the ball carrier with force. Can take on block and still make the tackle. Chase down speed and overall takes excellent angles.&nbsp; Showed flashes against the pass including a nice interception.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='236883' first='Gavin' last='Burt'] (Marmion Academy – 6'1” 225)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Burt is a physical tackler at 6'1" that fills well in the box.&nbsp; Gets through traffic making tackles against the run. Can also pursue pretty well sideline to sideline. Hits with power.&nbsp; Solid in coverage dropping back from his middle linebacker spot to get hands on passes down the middle.<br><br><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='205629' first='Weston' last='Waughop'] (Downers Grove North – 6'1” 190)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Really liked the tape of this DGN linebacker.&nbsp; Outside linebacker that is excellent as an edge rusher getting up field and to the QB.&nbsp; Can run sideline to sideline and accellerates to the ball.&nbsp; Works through blocks and traffic down the line of scrimmage in the run game.&nbsp; Also is solid in pass coverage. Contributes on kick coverage unit.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='331518' first='Easton' last='Ruby'] (Oswego East – 6'2” 180)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Ruby is a tall linebacker that is good against the run.&nbsp; Sheds blockers and accellerates to the ball.&nbsp; Tackles well in space.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='331478' first='Joe' last='Edwards'] (Downers Grove North – 6'3” 200)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Edwards is a 6'3" 200 pound linebacker that plays with a ton of physicality.&nbsp; High motor backer that stuffs in the run game being able to get down the line of scrimmage and fill holes on the interior.&nbsp; Hits with power when tackling. Bends the edge getting after QB when rushing. Best in run game. Can also play some TE where he is a solid blocker and pass catcher, but is best at LB for the next level.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Joey Villa (Glenbard South – 6'4” 195)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Thin and tall outside linebacker that will need to continue to fill out. Burst from end of line when crashing down in the run game. Changes direction well and pursues the ball!&nbsp; Runs well and tackles in space.&nbsp; Liked how well he covered running backs coming out of the backfield staying with them and making it difficult for the QB to hit them.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='803201' first='Kamron' last='Tolliver'] (West Aurora – 5'10” 170)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This outside linebacker is at his best in coverage.&nbsp; Can cover slot receivers and backs.&nbsp; Closes well on the ball. Also tackles well in space and shows burst to the ball carrier.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='331563' first='Maciej' last='Jarosz'] (Argo – 6'1” 210)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Strong and physical linebacker that hits very hard. Accelerates to the ball carrier.&nbsp; Runs very well going sideline to sideline.&nbsp; Makes impactful plays including forced fumbles.&nbsp; Has alot of juice and pop.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
