There are literally dozens of options within the state, whether you choose the four-year or two-year program option for the next step. Many of these schools are just a stone’s throw from the Wichita area, which produces a large volume of players ready to take the next step year in and year out.
In this report we will shine the spotlight on five standout players from the Wichita and surrounding areas who have chosen to start their collegiate careers close to home. Below we cover three players headed to Bethany in the KCAC (Kansas Collegiate Athletics Conference) and then one player each headed to Butler and Independence in the KJCCC (Kansas Jayhawk CC Conference).
Below are the five:
Going to Bethany College:
Jax Heneha Jax Heneha 5'10" | 140 lbs | DB Hutchinson | 2024 State KS , 5’10, 150, DB, Hutchinson, ranked #318. An athletic two-way player who can make things happen on offense either in the slot or split out wide. Where he really shines, however, is playing as a centerfielder free safety where he uses his excellent instincts and quick reaction speed to fly to the ball. He closes exceptionally fast and is a torpedo of a hitter, taking out knee caps and knocking off helmets on impact. Dynamite comes in small packages and when this kid locks in on his target he blows things up. He has good hands, whether it is going up for the catch or the interception. He also has fluid hips and moves laterally well. Keep him on your list to follow.
Nehemiah Flemming, 5’10, 170, DB, Wichita East, is ranked #369. Another speedy defensive back and playmaker who is coming off a standout season. He is a versatile defender who should be able to help the Swedes sooner rather than later. He can play the lock-down cornerback if needed, but really shines at the safety position. He is athletic enough and a big hitter who can play either strong safety or free. He has outstanding read and react skills and has impressive closing speed. He instinctively moves into position quickly and is a smothering open-field tackler. He should be a key part of the Bethany rebuild.
Camden Jensen Camden Jensen 6'0" | 270 lbs | OL Hutchinson | 2024 State KS , 6’0, 270, OL/C, Hutchinson, is ranked #221. The third player on this report heading to Bethany following a standout career at Hutch. A force in the middle, he dominates the line of scrimmage from his center position. He has a powerful base, good feet and excellent mechanics. Once he locks in on the defender he is a piledriver of a blocker who gets under pads and hits nose guards in the mouth. He moves well for his size and effectively goes to the next level to block linebackers and defensive backs. He is a scrapper that goes hard from snap to whistle. Get out and see him play in 2024.
Going to Butler CC:
Trey Noonan Trey Noonan 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Andover | 2024 State KS , 6’0, 175, WR, Andover, ranked #129. An excellent wide receiver coming off a standout senior season when he caught 35 passes for just under 600 yards and six touchdowns. He is a fluid, athletic wideout who can also play the slot. He has excellent receiver mechanics and runs good routes. He is fearless going over the middle and is particularly effective running quick slants and deeper post patterns. He is also a playmaker split out wide on the weakside to burn teams deep with seam routes and fades. He is deceptively fast and very elusive with the ball in his hands. He will help Butler out immediately.
Going to Independence:
Adam Stultz Adam Stultz 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Wichita East | 2024 State KS , 6’1, 220, LB/TE, Wichita East, is ranked #343. A versatile, athletic two-way player who can line up at tight end or H-back on offense, or as a headhunter inside linebacker on defense. On offense he is a crushing blocker, caving in the defender on down blocks. He also has good feet and technique blocking in space on linebackers and d-backs. On the other side of the ball he has great instincts and effectively stuffs the gaps inside the tackles as a linebacker. He has an athletic frame, moves well laterally and has excellent hands. He should be able to help the Pirates in a hurry.
In conclusion, another solid group of performers heading to the next level of competition. We will keep our finger on the pulse to let you know how their college careers progress.
