He has ideal length for the position, and as he continues to back on more weight to his frame and get into the 245+ range, he should fit nicely as a 4-down hand in the dirt edge player at the college level. On film, he shows some good things and flashes his abilities, but still is a raw prospect technically and has tons of growth potential in college. At the POA, he plays with good leverage and a strong initial strike creating immediate lock out and a violent and fast shed and shows that he can play anywhere from the wide-9 to a 3-tech along the defensive front and offers position versatility. He has good length and speed off the edge while very explosive near the LOS and is another natural bender that wins with his first step get off, twitch and bend around bigger blockers and can collapse the pocket from the outside in a hurry. He shows great athleticism in space, can drop into coverage if needed and tackle in the open field while bringing a nice thump at the POA. He is still raw in the run game, but does show active hands at times with violence and can defeat reach/drive blocks. He is a very athletic edge rusher that snaps out of stance, shoots his hands quickly and controls the chest of offensive lineman in the run game while showing quick block recognition and COD in the short area. When pass rushing, he shows active and quick hands at the POA while a natural bender around the edge and wins with leverage, a constant motor and violent hand usage. In the open field, he shows he can track down ball carriers backside and closes quickly while also able to sniff out screens/draws from his edge spot. Look for Pleis to gather FCS+ interest through the rest of this Spring and through his Senior season.
