In this article we are going to breakdown the skills and talents of the top running backs in the class of 2025 as it is a loaded class with a good amount of players with NCAA Division 1 potential.
Antwan Raymond
Antwan Raymond
Antwan Raymond is a true blue-chip running back prospect who has all of the tools to be dynamite at the NCAA Power Five level. Raymond is a smooth runner who can change gears and accelerate in an instant. While he doesn’t have the best top speed, he is excellent at shifting gears near the line of scrimmage to get to second and third gear before the linebackers can come downhill. He has quick agile feet that allow him to thrive on zone runs as he can stop and cut at any moment once he picks which hole to run through. He also has great vision that allows him to see certain holes develop before the defense notices, which combined with his acceleration and agility, allows him to get into the field more frequently than most other running backs. Raymond also has the size to be able to produce in gap scheme runs as he is 6’0″ and 200lb to go along with the patience and the vision necessary to succeed on gap scheme runs. Raymond is a true top-tier running back prospect who holds major NCAA Power Five offers and more offers will continue to flood in during his senior season.

Shekai Mills-Knight is another outstanding running back prospect who holds many NCAA Power Five offers. Coming in at 6’2″ 210lb, Mills-Knight can truly do it all as a running back. Mills-Knight is electric as a running back because any time he touches the ball he can score a touchdown thanks to his 4.6s forty-yard dash speed. He is an effortless and efficient runner who looks like he is gliding on the field. Since he looks effortless running the ball it often allows him to break the pursuit angles of the defense because they don’t think he is running that fast until he flies by them. He has excellent one-cut and tackle-shedding ability and has a strong lower base while also being light on his feet. He can thrive in any type of run scheme as he has the size, speed, and vision to run up the middle on gap scheme runs or to find the correct hole on zone run plays. Mills-Knight is a great receiver out of the backfield as he has great hands to go along with being able to run a diverse amount of routes not to mention his ability to break tackles in the open field. Mills-Knight is an outstanding running back prospect who holds offers from every major NCAA Power Five program and has future college star written all over him.

William Lufiau is a tremendous running back prospect with loads of potential. Lufiau has a tremendous size-speed combination as he runs the forty-yard dash in 4.5s while being 200lb. He speed pops on tape once he reaches the open field as he can separate from almost anyone on the field. He is excellent at making defenders miss in space as he can stop and cut on a dime. Lufiau is versatile as he can play in both a zone and gap scheme thanks to his speed and toughness to run up the middle. His best skill aside from his speed is his patience behind the line of scrimmage as he often lets the blocking develop a few yards downfield before he accelerates and hits the hole. Lufiau can also pass protect as he can scan the defensive front well to determine who to block on top of being a willing blocker. Lufiau is a tremendous running back prospect who already holds one NCAA Division One offer and more should follow once more coaches watch his tape.

At 6’1″ and 210lb, he possesses the strength and durability required to excel on inside zone runs. Moreover, Jerry exhibits remarkable patience, allowing blocks to develop on power runs, counters, and duos. His acute vision and adept cutting skills make him a natural fit for a zone run scheme, while his patience behind the line ensures compatibility with gap run schemes. As a dynamic athlete, Jerry consistently demonstrates on tape his ability to accelerate, speed up, and maneuver with agility beyond the tackles, creating separation in open fields and eluding defenders. Additionally, he excels as a receiver, running precise routes from the slot and showing untapped potential as a pass-catcher. With his immediate ability to enhance a running back group and the potential to become a primary down back, Jerry Momo Jerry Momo 6’1″ | 210 lbs | RB Champlain-Lennoxville | 2025 State CAD is set to be highly sought after by numerous NCAA Power 5 programs during his senior season.

Mika Lapostolle Mika Lapostolle 5’10” | 195 lbs | RB Spartiates Vieux | 2025 State CAD stands out as an exceptional running back prospect for the class of 2025 hailing from Québec. At 5’10” and 190lb, Mika’s athleticism shines through his remarkable speed, agility, and cutting ability, which, when paired with his excellent field vision, solidifies him as a top running back prospect for me. His tape reveals breakaway speed that rivals high-caliber track athletes, often making him appear to move at a different pace than his peers. Mika’s smooth and efficient running style allows him to elude defenders in the backfield, one-on-one situations, and open-field plays. His versatility in cutting, whether it’s a sharp one-cut to burst through a gap or a jump cut to bounce backside, demonstrates his all-around capability. While Mika’s speed and agility suit a gap scheme well, I believe he thrives in a zone-run scheme where he can leverage his superb field vision to anticipate openings before they fully form. Mika is an excellent running back prospect who should continue to rise and with his talent, there should be no shortage of NCAA Power 5 offers for him to consider.
