Here’s a look at seven available Class of 2025 prospects capable of helping a number of college programs:
Triston Brandsoy
Triston Brandsoy
Brandsoy is a handful, as you can see watching his junior highlights. He offers versatility on the defensive line as someone capable of flying in off the edge or absorbing multiple blocks driving up the middle. He stays disciplined with his eyes and keeps the play in front of him until seeing his path to a tackle. He consistently gets off of the snap quickly with an impressive burst to the ball. He adjusts well to blocks and shows violent hands.
Jean Ngoma
Jean Ngoma
Ngoma displays potential on both sides of the ball during his junior highlights, offering a frame capable of adding good weight and strength. On offense, Ngoma plays with balance and smooth feet. He’s athletic, which helps him recover if he gets off track. He understands how to gain an advantage with his hands, which helps him stay engaged while blocking. Defensively, his athleticism aids him in getting around blockers and his strength allows him to separate from blocks. There’s still rawness to his game overall, which should be intriguing to a college program looking to mold him.
Marcus McGregor
Marcus McGregor
The Tigers consistently development productive offensive linemen, and McGregor is an excellent example of that. As the starting left tackle in 2023, he showed scouts a coveted combination of athleticism and strength, as you can witness watching his junior highlights. He moves quickly off of the snap and wastes no time in setting up. He’s fluid with good bend, using his hands in concert with his feet, making it a challenge to beat him inside or out. He plays through the whistle with an edge and does well in manipulating pass rushers by changing up his pad level. There’s a whole lot to like here.
Jayden Weinzetl
Jayden Weinzetl
Colleges dismissing Weinzetl for not being the prototypical size for a defensive end could be missing out. As you can see during his junior highlights, he brings a great motor and understanding of the game to the field. He flies around but does so under control, allowing him to make a lot of plays. He’s relentless in pursuit and does a nice job diagnosing offenses. Webster City uses him standing up or with his hand in the dirt off the edge, but he shows the athleticism, tackling ability and speed to play linebacker in certain college systems. He lists fullback as an alternate position, so that’s also a possibility.
Borcherding-Johnson is the younger brother of Iowa Hawkeye freshman defensive tackle Maddux Borderding-Johnson. They share similar traits, especially at this stage of their development. In watching his junior highlights, Kolton reveals an admirable combination of power and speed in the middle of the defensive line. He consistently performs with a low pad level and drives through offensive linemen with his legs. He separates from blocks quickly and is athletic enough that Norwalk uses him on punt coverage.
Isaiah Bassett
Isaiah Bassett
As impressive as Bassett looks on his junior highlights, he’s not close to hitting his ceiling. There’s plenty of room for growth physically and as a football player that should be exciting to college scouts. He’s an explosive athlete that welcomes the game’s physicality. He boasts impressive speed that surprises opposing skill players as he bears down on them before they can escape. His strong hands help him keep the opposition in his grasp, and Bassett is proficient at taking down ball carriers before they can get going.
Ter Kuany
Ter Kuany
Kuany fits the mold of others on this list with current production and significant upside. In viewing his junior highlights, you witness a versatile defensive end that delivers no matter where he lines up. He shows a good burst off of the snap and does well setting the edge to funnel plays inside into traffic. He relies a lot on a swim move that looks difficult to contain and helps him separate from blocks. He stays in plays through the whistle, which helps him make stops in scramble situations.
