Former Head Coach Rae Oliver got his taste of showmanship by riding off into the sunset with a 13-0 record and winning the North, Group V playoff bracket in an all-time thriller against Clifton.
Since then veteran New Jersey high school football coach, and influential leader of the state’s coaches association, John Jacob – better known throughout the state as Jakes – has reigned in control. With records the last two years of 4-6 and 3-7, the Jaguars are a team on the prowl looking to pounce on a few early season victories to spur a playoff birth in 2024. Who exactly will they be leaning on to do so? Find out below.

Set for a big senior year is 3-year starter Alvins Collin Alvins Collin 5’10” | 260 lbs | OL East Orange | 2025 NJ . Last fall Collin was credited with 58 tackles (11 solos) with 12 tackles for loss and 1 blocked kick. I was able to get a sense for what Collin brings to the table by finding film from his sophomore season; however, I could not find anything from last fall. On defense Collin gets off the ball quickly. He also has shown, more often than not, to get hands on the man in front of him. Adding to that skillset, Collin aims to finish with his hands above his eyes, gaining leverage and jacking his matchup back in the process. In short yardage Collin goes hard into the A gap and would rather thank than get driven back. Perhaps most impressively, we have witnessed him walk a center into his own frontside guard, thwarting any attempt to back block. Along the offensive line Collin is a reliable drive and on blocker. He is able to move down linemen out of the way and keeps working, displacing them either vertically or laterally. As he does on defense, I want to see Collin use his hands more on offense, particularly when asked to kick. Doing so will allow him to control his matchup more and serve as the precursor for the upward hip movement of dumping his matchup.
Wazyn King Wazyn King 6’2″ | 235 lbs | OL East Orange | 2025 NJ might be another Jaguar that East Orange will look to for major contributions this upcoming season. Last fall King was credited with 11 tackles, 1 TFL, and 2 Forced Fumbles. I was not able to find any game footage on King; however on his twitter we get a glimpse of what he can bring to the table. King appears to have solid hex bar deadlift form and can move weight too. That strength transitions to landmine press, where he demonstrates great upper body strength. I would love to see those landmine presses involve a squat to activate his lower half and continue to develop leg strength.
At 6’3″ 340lbs you will be hard pressed to find any football players bigger than Shaheem Dezonie Shaheem Dezonie 6’3″ | 340 lbs | DL East Orange | 2025 NJ . To his credit, he made 16 tackles (3 solos) and 1 sack last fall. I previously identified as an eye-catching camper at last year’s AVC Mega Football Camp last spring. With no film available to view, I am interested to see how Dezonie has prepared himself as he embarks on his senior season.
The final line prospect for today’s report that we should be on the lookout for his Isaiah Robinson Isaiah Robinson 6’2″ | 290 lbs | DL East Orange | 2025 NJ . Robinson made 9 tackles last year. With no film available and unable to find him on Twitter or Instagram, I look forward to a mid-season update from Robinson.
