The Greyhounds have been sending out invitations for the last several weeks to deserving prospects throughout the state.
“It kicks off the recruiting process,” ENMU head coach Kelley Lee told Prep Redzone New Mexico. “It lets the athletes gauge if your university is one they should be serious about as they plan their camps for the summer and game day visits for the fall. We get to see them in person and they get to learn about our program. From there, we can build the relationships.”
Junior Day gets underway at 2 p.m. with a Meet and Greet at the College of Business. Lee and his assistants will then give a program overview, where they’ll discuss the expectations of the players in the program, both athletically and academically.
After showing a 2023 highlight film, the prospects will tour the ENMU campus and the football facilities before heading over to Greyhound Stadium for the Dawg Walk and Spring Game, which kicks off at 6 p.m. MT.
“We believe we have a good product with our program,” Lee said. “We want the players to see it, to see the physicality our players play with as well as the intensity, effort and toughness. We think that helps sell our program.”
Lee said several current players from New Mexico have impressed him during spring practice: Matthew Quartieri (Raton), Ja’Calvin Newsom (West Mesa) and Christian Griego (Los Lunas). All three are returning starters.
