Wayne's [player_tooltip player_id='1060849' first='Alex' last='Rodriguez'] is an interesting defender to watch this year, as he should be a pivotal player on the Blue Devil's defense. Alex had a great junior year, finishing the season with 40 tackles, four interceptions, and a TFL. Rodriguez primarily plays safety, but when watching his junior tape, I noticed he occasionally lined up near the line of scrimmage, showing good speed off the edge and flashing as the versatile piece he can be. From the traditional safety spot, Alex did a great job covering the entirety of the field with great range and closing speed to get to the ball quickly. He does an excellent job neutralizing deep threats with his willingness to provide support over top and pick up streaking receivers. Solid tackler. Good instincts— reads his keys very well and will attack quickly. Alex also plays receiver on offense; although targets his way were low in 2023, expect those numbers to rise this season. Definitely a guy to get on campus this spring!

A bit of a hidden gem from the 8-man ranks! During his breakout junior year, [player_tooltip player_id='737013' first='Robert' last='Honeysuckle'] was a tackling machine, totaling 151 tackles, 13 TFLs, and recovering two fumbles while playing linebacker on the Knight's defense. I like the intense motor that Robert plays with and the physicality he displays from that middle linebacker spot. He makes quick, snap decisions when he reads his keys and can explode through his lanes to stuff the run. Great at pursuing the ball. Robert isn't the biggest-sized player out there, but he does have a strong, well-built frame that makes him a solid tackler and a mauler as a blocker when he's on offense.

It's no secret that one of the Cornhusker State's biggest exports recently has been tight ends. That trend should continue with the '25 class, which features great depth at the position. One sleeper tight end to watch is Malcolm's [player_tooltip player_id='1060901' first='Tristen' last='Boehle'], who has the skillset and measurables to shake up the recruiting ranks this offseason. Tristen didn't see many targets, mostly because of a loaded pass-catchers group, but made the most of his five receptions as he averaged 17.8 yards a catch and scored two touchdowns. Tristen is a lengthy tight end whose massive catch radius provides a reliable target over the middle of the field. He shows enough wiggle at the top of his route to create separation and slip into an open lane. Boehle was also impressed with his willingness to block whether in the run or passing game. Upside at outside linebacker as well. With several schools expressing interest, I expect Tristen to be a hot prospect this offseason!

Kailer emerged from his junior season as one of the more versatile players in Class C2. On offense, we got to see all the creative ways Kailer can make plays. You can use him as a receiving tight end, where he flashes good hands and can make defenders miss after the catch. Pohl can take straight handoffs in the backfield and let his athleticism and vision take over as he navigates through his blocks for good chunk gains. He can also be the one blocking for the ball carrier, showing his mean streak when he's allowed to go headhunt as a fullback. Defensively, he does a great job filling in his outside linebacker role. Kailer has the strength to take on offensive linemen at the LOS, showing that he can disengage from blocks to pursue the ball. Pohl also held his own very well against the pass, showing nice fluidity and change of direction when in coverage. Sneaky good at forcing turnovers— good nose for the ball. Kailer can also kick field goals and kickoffs, to show the full scope of his football abilities. Tough kid who could be an asset on any college roster.
