I was very excited to attend my first 7v7 tournament of the season, and I was not disappointed. At the Nebraska 7v7 tournament, I saw Nebraska-based teams from Omaha, Lincoln, and Aurora while also getting some looks at teams from Iowa and Missouri.
Coach Tank Perry has been busy building up the Nebraska 7v7 tournament circuit to help bring exposure to Nebraska athletes here on our own home turf. The Battle for the Monarch Crown was one of a few tournaments coming up in the NE7v7 series.
Now check out my standouts from the Papillion-La Vista Monarchs squads.
Cameron Leggett Cameron Leggett 6'3" | 175 lbs | QB Papillion-La Vista | 2026 State NE | 2026 | QB | Papillion-La Vista | 6’3″ 175 lbs
– Cameron had a solid day throwing the ball, showing why he is a name to watch among 2026 QBs.
– It was a very cold, windy day to start, so every quarterback seemed a bit off, but Cameron still showed that he could put zip into his throws when he needed to cut through the wind and deliver the ball with solid accuracy.
– Leggett is a tall QB who can stand in the pocket and examine the entire field while moving through his progressions to find the open receiver.
– Lots to like about Cameron’s game already and he still has two full seasons left to go.
Kale Johnson Kale Johnson 6'3" | 215 lbs | ATH Papillion-La Vista | 2025 State NE | 2025 | LB/TE | Papillion-La Vista | 6’3″ 215 lbs
– A very versatile player with a ton of upside as a linebacker and as a TE.
– Physical player who can disrupt receivers that come across the middle of the field.
– Great size at 6’3″ and 215 pounds with tons of athleticism and has the range to cover sideline-to-sideline.
– Watching Kale become a safety blanket target for Cameron today makes me very optimistic that Kale is in store for a big receiving year, along with his production on the defensive side.
– Can make tough catches in traffic and has the strong hands to hold onto the ball when dealing with contact.
Owen Bogacz Owen Bogacz 5'8" | 155 lbs | WR Papillion-La Vista | 2025 State NE | 2025 | WR/DB | Papillion-La Vista | 5’7″ 170 lbs
– I’ve been saying since Owen’s freshman season that he could be one of the best route runners in the state, and he continues to show that today.
– He can run a very diverse route tree and is very consistent from the start of the route all the way through the catch point.
– I like Owen’s aggressiveness when the ball is in the air. He always seems to work his way back to the QB to attack the ball when it’s in the air.
– Bogacz showed some nice elusiveness with the ball in his hands and was able to tack on extra yardage after his receptions.
– He does a good job getting clean releases to counter attempts to jam him and has the burst to get behind defenders when he beats them at the line of scrimmage.
