A sure-tackler who can make a big stop in the open field, Metz was a strong, dependable option defensively for a major 7A program. He can dissect plays quickly, take on blocks, and has a nose for the football. The Crimson Tide need playmakers on defense for the future, and Metz is a new linebacker target that fans in Tuscaloosa need to keep a close eye on. As a junior last fall, this 6-foot-3 220-pounder made 51 tackles, five TFLs, five sacks and 14 more QB hurries. He also picked off one pass and forced one fumble. He moves well for his size and plays with aggression. He battles hard and does a great job of blocking defenders until the whistle is finally blown. He's a pancake machine in the run game and a promising pass-protector. He plays with leverage, can pull in the run game, and can overpower opposing defenders with ease. At 6-foot-1 170-pounds, this Peachtree Ridge standout also knows how to deliver a sound hit on the ball-carrier. He's fundamentally sound and knows how to make a big tackle in the open field. He has a giant offer list, and now he's earned an offer from the new staff at Alabama. The Crimson Tide have developed excellent defensive backs in the past, and they're looking to add more peach-state talent like Barney.
