Continue ReadingPrep Redzone Louisiana will release its new 2025 rankings this week, followed by 2026 updates and the first 2027 rankings.
Leading up to the complete, 250-player list on Tuesday, we will count down the top 50 in more detail.
And make sure to check back following the release for additional features and notes on the 2025 cohort, including looks at debuts, stock-risers and the loaded running back, defensive line and defensive back groups.
40. Lionel Prudhomme Lionel Prudhomme 6'3" | 290 lbs | OL Captain Shreve | 2025 State LA — 6-3, 290 OL — Captain Shreve
The Gators’ big two-way lineman debuted on the list as a top-100 prospect heading into junior season and makes a big jump into the top 40. Prudhomme most likely projects on the offensive side, where he played right tackle this fall but may end up inside at the next level. He is a tenacious, mauling block finisher who shows good get-off and moves well on both sides of the ball whether chasing opposing passers or locating and engaging opposing linebackers.
39. Kylin Wheeler Kylin Wheeler 5'11" | 175 lbs | WR Rayne | 2025 State LA — 5-11, 175 WR — Rayne
The Wolves’ all-state receiver is one of the fastest athletes in the state, a smooth runner who glides past defenders in his routes and after the catch — and did so for 1,241 yards (a 21-yard average) and 17 scores on 59 receptions this fall in a traditionally run-dominant offense. Wheeler boasts 4.37-second 40-yard vertical speed, but a solid build and the strength and hands to make catches through contact.
38. D.K. Mays D.K. Mays 6'4" | 250 lbs | DL Central (Baton Rouge) | 2025 State LA — 6-4, 240 DL — Central (Baton Rouge)
The Wildcats’ star remains well-situated in the top 40 for the second straight round of updates, one of the physically strongest athletes in the Louisiana’s increasingly intriguing 2025 class of defensive lineman with his ability to swiftly throw blockers aside in his pursuit of quarterbacks and ball-carriers. His impressive offer list includes Texas A&M, Missouri and Mississippi State among the highlights.
37. Sheldon Green Sheldon Green 6'3" | 200 lbs | LB Archbishop Shaw | 2025 State LA — 6-3, 200 LB — Archbishop Shaw
The long, lean and explosive edge rusher caught our eye during the Eagles’ spring practices — as well as during outdoor track season at the end of the his sophomore year — and Green remains an intriguing prospect to watch in the class as he continues to develop.
36. Davian Jackson Davian Jackson 6'2" | 170 lbs | ATH Westgate | 2025 State LA — 6-2, 170 ATH — Westgate
“Diamond” is another of the biggest risers in the latest rankings update, a versatile athlete with good size and track speed that shows in the fall on long breakaway scores. Jackson has started working some this spring on his footwork at defensive back, where his already-intriguing ceiling appears its highest. His offer list has quickly become one of the state’s best, with other programs monitoring heading into spring ball and summer camps.
35. Emile Picarella Emile Picarella 6'2" | 215 lbs | QB University Lab | 2025 State LA — 6-2, 215 QB — University Lab
Louisiana’s highest-regarded quarterback prospect in the 2025 class since his move from Mississippi this past summer, Picarella stands out with his tall, strong build and big arm able to make accurate throws to every level of the field and on the run. As a junior, he worked his way to the helm of U-High’s offense full-time by early season (a matter of just a few months) and went on to set a school record for touchdown passes and lead the team to the semifinals.
34. Joshua Lewis Joshua Lewis 6'5" | 240 lbs | DL Dutchtown | 2025 State LA — 6-5, 240 DL — Dutchtown
A big debut for the Griffins’ defensive end, who might be the tallest and longest of our top tiers of Louisiana’s increasingly exciting 2025 crop of defensive linemen. His quickness at the snap, closing speed and motor stand out from his film as a notable playmaker for the team’s memorable fall and first-ever semifinal run. Houston, Missouri, Oregon State, Georgia Tech, Cal, Louisiana (Lafayette) and Louisiana Tech have been among a huge run of offers to start the offseason.
34. Joshua Brantley Joshua Brantley 6'4" | 200 lbs | ATH Ruston | 2025 State LA — 6-4, 200 ATH — Ruston
Brantley etched his name in the history books of the proud Bearcats program this fall as he quarterbacked the team to its first state championship since 1990 in his first year at starter. He showed his ability to make big plays through the air when necessary — including critical passes downfield in the title game — but also his impressive athleticism that reportedly has some big college staffs weighing his potential at other positions.
32. Reshad Sterling Reshad Sterling 6'3" | 235 lbs | DL Lutcher | 2025 State LA — 6-3, 235 DL — Lutcher
Another of Louisiana’s top rising senior defensive line prospects, Sterling is explosive off the line and into the backfield as a disruptive defensive playmaker. In-state schools have been in heavy recruitment of the Bulldogs’ standout, with Houston and UCF among others in the mix.
31. Jackson Jones Jackson Jones 6'7" | 290 lbs | OL Pine | 2025 State LA — 6-7, 290 OL — Pine
Jones is one of the state’s top offensive line prospects with a long list of major offers — including TCU, Baylor, Kansas State, Purdue and others — and his role in helping pave the way for Pine’s best record in more than a decade. He has great size for the next level, moves well with it, and plays aggressively, exploding into and finishing his blocks.
