Continue ReadingPrep Redzone Louisiana will release a final 2024 rankings this week before officially turning the page to 2025 with its next round of updates — followed by 2026 updates and the first 2027 rankings.
Leading up to the complete, 400-player list on Thursday, we will count down the top 40 in more detail.
And make sure to check back following the release for additional features and notes on the 2024 cohort as we close the recruiting book on the class as they begin their college careers.
20. Katrevrick Banks Katrevrick Banks 6'3" | 185 lbs | DB Homer | 2024 State LA — 6-3, 185 DB — Homer —> Ole Miss
The Pelicans’ star, a consistent riser on this list the past year-plus, makes one final leap into top 20 in the final rankings. Banks most recently measured another inch taller and 20 pounds stronger than his previous listing, all to go with 10.85-second 100-meter speed and impressive athleticism and ball skills to make even highlight-reel catches during his three-phase high school career.
19. Anthony Robinson III Anthony Robinson III 6'1" | 190 lbs | ATH Destrehan | 2024 State LA — 6-1, 190 ATH — Destrehan —> Ole Miss
The Wildcats’ versatile standout proved the steady face of the Rebels’ recruiting efforts in Louisiana this cycle as other notable prospects came and went around him, and fans have been rightfully excited for the well-rounded athleticism he will bring to Oxford. Robinson is a thickly built likely safety with explosiveness that flashed in particular on eight touchdowns combined between all three phases.
18. Wallace Foster IV Wallace Foster IV 5'11" | 160 lbs | DB Warren Easton | 2024 State LA — 5-11, 160 DB — Warren Easton —> LSU
Foster was one of the earliest prospects to pop in Louisiana’s 2024 class, competing at a high level as a freshman and sophomore against high-profile opponents in the state on Friday nights and around the country on the 7-on-7 circuit, before missing junior year working back from a knee injury. The Eagles’ spark plug with great ball skills returned to full health this past offseason and didn’t miss a game as a senior.
17. Kavion Broussard Kavion Broussard 6'6" | 270 lbs | OL Zachary | 2024 State LA — 6-6, 275 OL — Zachary —> Ole Miss
Another few spots up for the Broncos’ left tackle who capped a good high school career with an impressive showing in an absolute slugfest in the Division-I Non-Select title game against one of the best defenses in the state in Ruston. He followed shortly thereafter with a flip from Miami to an SEC opportunity with the Rebels. Broussard bulked up his big frame considerable during the past year-plus and plays with the strength and nasty streak to maximize that build.
16. Khayree Lee Jr. Khayree Lee Jr. 6'6" | 310 lbs | OL John Ehret | 2024 State LA — 6-6, 310 OL — John Ehret —> LSU
Lee finishes Louisiana’s 2024 rankings where he started: As the state’s highest-ranked offensive lineman. The Patriots’ star and leader shed about 75 pounds during the past year and a half to better prepare his body and conditioning for the next level and looked quick this fall on his feet, with his hands and in his pivots from one pancaked defender to the next to clear space in the middle of the line.
15. Bernard Causey Bernard Causey 6'0" | 160 lbs | DB John F. Kennedy | 2024 State LA — 6-0, 160 DB — John F. Kennedy —> LSU
“Beeby” makes another climb back into the final top 20 for the class. The New Orleans cornerback is one of the highest-ceiling corners in the class — if not top of the list — with his athleticism, ball skills and edge and physicality with which he plays. If Causey handles the transition to college life, strength and conditioning, coaching and other challenges and reaches that potential, he should be a major asset to a secondary that could really use that sort of boost.
14. Joel Rogers Joel Rogers 6'0" | 190 lbs | ATH West Feliciana | 2024 State LA — 6-0, 195 ATH — West Feliciana —> LSU
The four-sport standout and outright leader for his Saints is headed to hometown LSU as a safety at the next level where his length, solid build, intelligence and athleticism should give him the opportunity to excel in the secondary full-time. Rogers has clocked 22.42-second 200-meter speed that showed on the football field when he broke big runs as his team’s quarterback, but has also already excelled in defensive opportunities with willing and hard-hitting physicality.
13. Melvin Hills III Melvin Hills III 6'4" | 265 lbs | DL Lafayette Christian | 2024 State LA — 6-4, 265 DL — Lafayette Christian —> Texas
The Longhorns landed another Louisiana — and particularly Lafayette area — standout in the latest recruiting cycle in Hills, the tenacious and disruptive force in the defensive front for a Knights program that played in a state title game in each of his high school seasons. Hills recorded 81 tackles, including 15 for loss and 12 sacks, in another all-state campaign.
12. Koby Young Koby Young 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Holy Cross | 2024 State LA — 6-0, 180 WR — Holy Cross —> Houston
A huge recruiting win for now-former Tulane coach Willie Fritz and his staff during their transition to Houston, the Holy Cross star boasts track speed and great ball skills in a stronger frame than most of his sprinter-and-receiver counterparts in this class. Young caught 54 passes for 654 yards (12 yards/catch) and seven touchdowns as a seniors, while also returning a combined 19 kicks and punts for 454 yards (23.9 yards/return) and playing his the secondary in key defensive moments.
11. Michael Turner Michael Turner 6'1" | 145 lbs | ATH John Curtis | 2024 State LA Jr. — 6-1, 145 ATH — John Curtis —> LSU
The Patriots’ speedy multisport athlete climbs another couple spots in the final rankings. How well Turner can add and carry some muscle without sacrifice his many other strengths will be his major storyline at the next level, but he is a smart player and one of the state’s most fluid athletes, can absolutely fly and has shown a good feel for how to use that combination to create space in his route-running or with the ball in his hands.
