One thing I have been impressed with so far watching a good amount of linemen from the country is just the size of some of these guys. All over Canada, there are a good amount of prospects who meet the standards of what many Division I schools in the United States are looking for in linemen. I chose to spotlight some 2025′ guys from Ontario who show some intriguing traits on their tape.

Kelly, who plays Center is listed at 6’3 275lbsto start is very consistent with his snaps. There is always good velocity and location on his snaps offensively, he also is a long snapper and shows some ability to be a special teams contributor. Kelly shows solid athleticism and lateral movement skills and can get to the second level with quickness. Kelly needs to play with better bend and leverage because in reps where he plays with low pad level, he finishes blocks much more often. Kelly can continue to build strength and add weight but shows some movement skills and consistent snapping that are intriguing.

Fagan an interior offensive lineman who also plays along the defensive line has clips all over his Twitter that I could essentially piece together as highlights. Offensively, Fagan plays center and plays with good leverage and hands. Fagan can move guys backward and plays with his feet constantly moving. Fagan shows flashes of strength in his upper body and utilizes his length to control defenders at the point of attack. While this article is primarily about offensive line play, some defensive clips show movement skills that translate to the offensive side of the ball.

Highlights
Johnson, an interior offensive lineman at 6’4 290lbs. Johnson plays with a great motor and can control defenders well. Johnson plays with good hand placement getting inside the chest of defenders and playing with leverage. Johnson moves well enough to play in space at times, he is best suited down blocking to create a hole or reach blocking in a zone run scheme. Johnson’s ability to keep his shoulders square to defenders moving laterally wins him a lot of reps. Johnson needs to continue to add strength and a violent initial punch to his game. Fundamentally, he is one of the best interior offensive linemen I have seen in Canada and if he can add more violence at the point of attack he will be able to knock defensive linemen around.

McEvoy has size that you cannot teach at 6’7 300lbs and on tape when you take a close look at his body type, he can continue to add to his frame. He is lean and has great length which he utilizes well. McEvoy is raw as a prospect, he shows some good lateral movement, quick feet, and the ability to move in space. Additionally, McEvoy shows good bend in his stance and does a good job of maintaining leverage even against smaller defenders that force him to play with low pad level. McEvoy wins a lot of reps because of his size, he needs to continue to develop the use of his hands and his initial punch. McEvoy can tend to torque and throw defenders, a skill that works against his level of competition but will struggle to translate to the next level. If McEvoy continues to develop and builds more strength he will be able to generate some knockback off his initial punch and then maintain blocks with his elite length. McEvoy has some traits that are intriguing for the next level.
