Over this past weekend, the top 7on7 programs in the Greater St. Louis area went to war for bragging rights and the opportunity to hold up the 2024 Show Me Shootout Champions trophy. In the 14U bracket it came down to the battle of the undefeated and the match up did not disappoint. The last few minutes of the game ended in dramatic fashion with 5P Academy having points by called back. Then ESA having a last shot at the end zone for the win, resulting in a pick. These young men put it all on the line and the back and forth kept the energy up the whole game. Pierre Desir's 5P Academy led by Coach Coleman won the championship against a very talented group being instructed by Coach Bullet. Below are my top performers from each team.

5P Academy

[player_tooltip player_id='1222940' first='Kingston' last='McPike'], Receiver/Safety- Kid has all the tangibles to be special. Made a lot of heads up plays and sees the field really well. Great hip mobility and quick. Very good ball skills.

[player_tooltip player_id='1222943' first='Landon' last='Coleman'], Athlete- Not much this prospect cannot do. Played on a bum wheel, but still had highlights and competed at a high level. Elusive and explosive are a deadly combination and he has both.

Daylen Austin Harvey, Quarterback- Even though he had some solid players around him to deliver the ball to, Daylen scanned the field well and made decisions quickly putting the ball where he gave his guys an opportunity to make a play. Kept his feet alive and was pretty accurate outside of the pocket as well. A respected leader on that offense.

Malik Campell, Receiver- Very deliberate coming off the ball and working his hands to assure smooth releases. Responsible for multiple touchdowns. Pure athlete with the confidence to not rush his routes.

ESA "The LOU"

[player_tooltip player_id='1221278' first='Kolby' last='Dotson'], Receiver- Long athlete with incredible range. Did not see him lose a jump ball. Showed off his adjustments when football was in flight. It did not matter if he was crossing the field, working the harsh, or outside releasing from the top of the numbers, this kid has the goods to wear out any coverage.

Nigel Griffin, Quarterback- Went through his progressions well and knew what match ups would work in his favor. Put a nice touch on deep balls over top or used a firm side arm throw to hit his receivers underneath. Escaped multiple attempts when pressure was brought and trusted his reads to steal chunks of yardage. Took feedback well from coaches and applied it the next play. Leader!

[player_tooltip player_id='1741251' first='Malik' last='Waters'], Receiver- Good meat on his bones and doesn't look like he's afraid of weight room. Acceleration was impressive and displayed body control or an insane burst when put foot in the ground when needed to. Very agile with soft hands.

[player_tooltip player_id='1222973' first='Evan' last='Powell'], Receiver/DB- Taller athlete on the team who made plays on both sides of the ball. Came up big with a pivotal turnover.

Cam Sharp, Athlete- Follow the ball and there he is. Playmaker with running back build. Proved to be a great option out the backfield or as inside receiver. Showed up on defense too.
