With that being the case, I wanted to give some exposure to some of these defensive backs in multiple classes. These guys have the talent to play at the next level with different styles and traits to choose from. Here are five defensive back prospects to add to your recruiting board.

Little Rock Mills defensive back Chauncey Haynes Chauncey Haynes 6’0″ | 180 lbs | DB White Hall | 2025 State AR brings speed and athleticism to the secondary. Plays with a high motor, sideline-to-sideline ability with impressive tackling in space. Displays good read and react ability with good ball tracking skills as well. Impressive boundary and slot corner that will stick to his man or zone. Haynes is someone you need to add to your recruiting board.

Maumelle defensive back Antonio McFadden is a stick to your hip type of player in the secondary, always staying inside the hip pocket of the opposition and not allowing any separation. Once the ball is out, he immediately breaks down and makes a play on the ball whether it’s a PBU or a tackle in space showcasing a quick read and react ability, diagnosing every play. McFadden is a riser and someone you need to watch in 2024.

Litte Rock Christian defensive back Clendell Jones Jr. brings speed and athleticism to the position. Jones Jr. displays great hip twitch-flexibility to switch and run with the opposition. His ability to react and stick with receivers on breaks is impressive. Good in man and zone coverage with good ability to read and react, breaking on the ball quick forcing a PBU or short completion. Jones Jr. is someone to keep an eye on during the 2024 season.

Pulaski Academy defensive back KJ Colen KJ Colen 6’0″ | 160 lbs | DB Pulaski Academy | 2025 State AR showcases speed, athleticism, ball skills and high football IQ. Colen displays good footwork with fluidity to transition and stick with his moving vertically or on his break. Sticks to the receiver well, not allowing any separation and constantly making a play on the ball. Very good read and react ability, either arriving on time to force a PBU or making a tackle before them getting up field. Good ball tracking skills to force a turnover as well. Keep an eye on Colen throughout this year.

Fayetteville defensive back Dawson Birmingham brings fluidity at the position. Good speed, athleticism and physicality throughout each down. Birmingham displays quick feet and hip twitch to immediately adjust and stay on top of the opposition. Good recovery speed with solid technique while showcasing good read and react ability. Good in both man and zone coverage, making himself someone to trust at the second and third level and lockdown each zone. He is someone to watch in 2024 and add to your recruiting board soon.
