There have been numerous changes at the 5A level, with (9) 6A teams dropping down and most of the conferences making significant changes. Special District 3, which is essentially the Mid-Willamette conference, loses Silverton, Mckay, and Woodburn. It will now be a 6-team league with West Albany, South Albany, Corvallis, Lebanon, Dallas, and Crescent Valley competing.

Just like we did with 6A I will project out the player of the year candidates on offense and defense within each conference. Check it..

1.[player_tooltip player_id='407173' first='Austin' last='Simmons'] 25' WR/TE West Albany

The 6-5 220 pounder is the unquestioned top recruit coming out of the conference with offers from the likes of Washington St, Montana St, and Idaho. As a junior he was an honorable mention all-state and 1st team all-league TE/WR, catching 39 passes for 741 yards and 8 TDs. We will see how much the graduation of QB [player_tooltip player_id='738896' first='Lukas' last='Hews'] affects the passing game. Regardless Simmons will be a conference POY favorite on both sides of the football.

2.[player_tooltip player_id='412221' first='Tyler' last='Hart-McNally'] ATH West Albany

Look for Hart-McNally to have a monster senior campaign after going down with an injury early last season. As a sophomore he went for 1000+ all-purpose yards and 10 TDs. He will be a 1st or 2nd team all-state kid if healthy.

3.[player_tooltip player_id='285872' first='Truman' last='Brasfield'] 25' WR Corvallis HM

The Spartans have struggled as a team going 5-21 over the last three seasons. Brasfield had an outstanding junior year finishing 2nd in conference in multiple statistical categories, with 56 receptions for 712 yards and 8 TDs. If Corvallis can compete for a playoff spot or improve a great deal, he will be a favorite for POY honors.

4.[player_tooltip player_id='402397' first='Brison' last='Edwards'] 26' QB Lebanon 6-1 170

Really like this kid. Edwards is an outstanding overall athlete and will give the Warriors a chance moving forward. They will need his leadership with the graduation of D1 TE [player_tooltip player_id='442249' first='Hayden' last='George'] and RB/LB Wyatt Wessell. The dual threat QB can beat you with his feet and will progress in the passing game, after hitting on 55% of his throws last year with 15 TDs/10 INTs.

5.[player_tooltip player_id='438846' first='Axel' last='Prechel'] 25' QB Corvallis 6-0 170

Prechel is a super talented overall athlete and one of the best baseball players in Oregon. Corvallis likes to air out on the football field with Prechel hitting on 54% of his passes (128-236) with 10 TDs/8 INTs. The Spartans have struggled in recent years and if he can help them overcome that, expect numerous accolades to come his way.

6.[player_tooltip player_id='914281' first='Koen' last='Campos'] 26' RB Crescent Valley

Koen has a chance to be one of the best at the 5A level after an impressive sophomore season where he had multiple 100+ yard games and a handful of scores. He is the brother of talented WR [player_tooltip player_id='511310' first='Luey' last='Campos'] who led the conference in receiving TDs.

7.Mason Riney 25' WR Crescent Valley

Not a lot of people are aware of the talent at WR within the CV program. [player_tooltip player_id='511303' first='Rocco' last='McClave'] graduates which could be an issue for the receivers, but if they can figure out the QB situation they should be in decent shape. Riney had a nice junior season catching 36 passes for 481 yards and 6 TDs.

8.[player_tooltip player_id='1216425' first='Lucas' last='Ikjaer'] 25' WR Crescent Valley 6-2 180 35-466-5 TDs

Once again this all comes down to the loss of McClave and how the struggling Crescent Valley program deals with that. Offensively they have been impressive, putting up 40+ points in 6 of their 9 games. Ikjaer has great size (6-2 180) and had a noteworthy junior year for the Raiders, grabbing 35 balls for 466 yards and 5 TDs. Numbers almost identical to his teammate Riney.
