5A Special District 2 looks to be the top conference in the state with Wilsonville, Silverton, and potentially Canby all ranking among the top 5 teams in Oregon. The six-team league will also include a rising Central program, along with McKay and Woodburn. Have a look at the conference player of the year candidates on each side of the ball...

1.[player_tooltip player_id='511864' first='Mark' last='Wiepert'] 25' WR Wilsonville

Oregon's 5A Offensive Player of the Year in 2023. Wiepert is one of the top multi-sport athletes in the West and committed to Oregon St for baseball. He was the key to the Wildcats success on both sides of the football, with 1,465 yards and 21 TDs. Wilsonville will be the favorite to win another state title in 24'.

2.[player_tooltip player_id='511861' first='Sawyer' last='Teeney'] 25' QB Silverton

Teeney has one of the highest ceilings of any player in Oregon. The 1st team all-league, honorable mention all-state QB, hit on 69% of his passes (152/221), while throwing for 2,923 yards and 30 total TDs (6 rushing). The Foxes will now battle Wilsonville within their own conference and likely again in the state championship game.

3.[player_tooltip player_id='285874' first='Nick' last='Crowley'] 25' WR Wilsonville

Coach Lillard said it well when it comes to Crowley, "The kids just really good". Crowley earned 1st team all-league, and 2nd team all-state honors, while helping the Wildcats to the state championship. He was dominant all season long, catching 58 passes for 1,059 yards and 15 TDs. Look for him to make a significant jump up the rankings board and be a 5A state POY candidate as well.

4.[player_tooltip player_id='754681' first='Kellen' last='Oliver'] 25' QB Canby

One of the fastest rising QBs in Oregon. Oliver racked up 2nd team all-conference honors last season and comes from a talented family. He is super smart and will have two of the state's top targets to throw to in the 6-5 Doman and the 6-6 Brauckmiller. The graduation of all everything athlete [player_tooltip player_id='207256' first='Tyler' last='Konold'] will hurt, but also give Oliver an opportunity to shine and air it out under one of the NW's top play callers in head coach Jimmy Joyce.

5.[player_tooltip player_id='1095838' first='Jack' last='Brauckmiller'] 27' OLB/TE Canby

The 6-6 225-pound current freshman has the potential of being one of the nation's top recruits for his class. He has been compared to one of the best players ever to come out of Oregon in Colt Lyerla. Look for Brauckmiller to absolutely dominate with his size, even as a sophomore, while being a consistent target for Oliver.

6.[player_tooltip player_id='1216435' first='Brody' last='Kuenzi'] 25' TE Silverton

The big TE (6-3 210) had an outstanding junior season, earning 1st team all-league and honorable mention all-state honors. I would expect top QB Teeney to get him the ball a minimum of 5 times a game, with most teams not being able to matchup.

7.[player_tooltip player_id='406754' first='Jackson' last='Doman'] 25' WR Canby

The wrestling state champ already has a D1 offer on the football field and excelled defensively this past season, making 72 total tackles, with 6 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks. He was an all-conference athlete on both sides of the football and should double or triple his production from last year offensively.

8.[player_tooltip player_id='1216443' first='Cruz' last='Veliz'] 25' RB Woodburn

The Bulldogs moved back up to 5A last season going 1-8. It won't get any easier with their new conference featuring some of the top teams in 5A. Veliz is a huge bright spot, earning all-conference honors on both sides of the football, while averaging 6.4 yards per carry. As a junior he rushed 119 times for 758 yards and 6 TDs. He is one of the top 3 sport athletes in Oregon.

9.[player_tooltip player_id='754633' first='Asa' last='Pritchard-Moa'] 25' RB/S Central

Look for Pritchard-Moa to make a nice jump up the rankings board when updated. He will likely project on D and also be one of 5As top RB's next season. As a junior he rushed 98 times for 418 yards and 5 TDs. That said it will be tough against the likes of Wilsonville, Silverton, and Canby in conference.

10.[player_tooltip player_id='770007' first='Logan' last='Uitto'] 26' ATH Silverton

One of the top 26's in the state who a lot of folks don't know about yet. The 6-1 175-pound Uitto had a limited role last season but has the potential of being the conference breakout player of the year.
