That statement holds true for the 2027 class as well, as there’s talent not only in the ranked receivers but also a host of talent on the watchlist. These four receivers have the potential to make a statement next fall when they step onto the field for their teams.
A freshman receiver that gained a ton of experience in his first year on the field, Nahjae Smith Nahjae Smith 5’11” | 175 lbs | WR Elizabeth | 2027 State NJ is ready to to step into a bigger role come the 2024 season. Accumulating 268 receiving yards and a rushing and receiving touchdown, Nahjae is a pass catcher with a huge catch radius and natural ability to outjump the defender for the ball. He displays exceptional explosiveness as he leaps off of one foot to get elevated above his opponent. However, Nahjae’s biggest impact on the field may be as a ball carrier. With elite foot work and vision with the ball in his hands, Nahjae is the type of receiver you want to get the ball to quickly so he can use his agility to carve through defenses.
Adding to arguably the scariest pass attack in the state next fall, Kyron Dubose Kyron Dubose 5’10” | 150 lbs | WR DePaul Catholic | 2027 State NJ is going to play a pivotal role in DePaul’s success next season. With Derek Zammit Derek Zammit 6’0″ | 170 lbs | QB DePaul Catholic | 2026 State NJ tossing the rock and Elijah Burress Elijah Burress 6’1″ | 165 lbs | WR DePaul Catholic | 2025 State NJ and De’zie Jones on the roster already, adding Kyron to the mix may make it impossible to slow this aerial assault down. Adding another fluid route runner to their offense, DePaul is gaining a receiver with a ton of big play potential. Sharp in his cuts and the ability to change direction seamlessly, Kyron is sure to play a major part in his teams pass game as opponents have to worry about the other two big name targets they have. Good luck slowing this team down in 2024.
Equipped with strong hands and concentration that allows him to come down with the ball in traffic, Joseph Corchado Joseph Corchado 5’11” | 165 lbs | WR St. Joseph Regional | 2027 State NJ is developing into a true WR1. A big bodied target that will only be more challenging to cover as he continues to put on more size, Joseph will quickly become a main target anytime his team is near the endzone. With quick feet of the line, Joseph is able to get the corner to commit to a route, only to dig his foot into the ground and go the opposite direction. Look for him to create major separation next fall.
Highlights
A sharp route runner that can excel through the entire route tree, Chris Horn Jr. Chris Horn Jr. 5’6″ | 130 lbs | ATH St. Peter’s Prep | 2027 State NJ is sure to burst onto the season in 2024. With explosive capabilities, Chris can snag the ball out of the air and proceed to use his shifty moves to make defenders miss left and right. He is so agile that it would be smart for his team to put him back as a return man and let him work his magic. A lockdown corner on the defense as well, Chris is going to put pressure on his opponent regardless of which side of the ball he lines up on.
