Prep Redzone has all the details…
Terence Spencer Jr – Milton
A true under-the-radar defensive lineman to know about, Spencer’s size may not blow anyone away, but he was very productive last season for the 7A state champion Milton Eagles as a junior. A big, strong interior lineman at 6-foot-0 265-pounds, this impactful lineman was named 1st-team All-Region last year after making 53 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Playing on a defense loaded with Power Five talent, Spencer still found a way to make an impact every Friday night. He put lots of pressure on the quarterback from the inside, playing with good leverage to drive opposing linemen backward. He clogged running lanes between the tackles and played high-level football all season long. He may not be a Power Five guy, but Spencer showed last year, that while he may not be the biggest lineman around, he’s capable of playing somewhere at the next level. If he can continue to develop and work on his craft over the next few months, Spencer could have another massive season for the Eagles in 2024.
Kobe Mcinnis – Wheeler
A sleeper defensive lineman to know in Cobb County, Mcinnis is a lean, productive EDGE defender coming off a big junior season where he made 42 tackles, 14 TFLS and 8 sacks. He brings a promising 6-foot-3 210-pound frame to the table with the ability to add plenty of muscle and overall mass over the next few months. He shows a quick first step which allows him to create havoc in the backfield. A two-way player and an above-average athlete for the position, Mcinnis is a true under the radar defender who flashed D1-caliber potential last year as a junior. He shows quick hands, a good motor, and the ability to run down the ball-carrier. A true force off the edge, this Wheeler standout still has his best football ahead of him. He’s one of the top overall pass-rushers in the area, and if he keeps improving, he should have an excellent seniors season in the fall. Don’t be surprised to see his recruitment pick up some this summer, too.
Collin Fields – Allatoona
A promising junior defender on the rise, Fields is an active EDGE defender with an excellent feel for the position. He brings D1-caliber size at 6-foot-2 220-pounds and can hurt offenses in several ways. Named a 2nd-team All-Region selection, Fields is an above-average pass rusher who sacked the quarterback eight times last year as a junior along with 53 tackles and 11 TFLS. He can fly into the backfield off the snap and consistently finds a way to make an impact behind the line of scrimmage. He can swat passes away at the line of scrimmage and run down the ball carrier attempting to get out to the perimeter. He does a lot of things well and flashes the potential to play somewhere at the next level. He’s a good athlete overall who also shines on the baseball diamond. An excellent student in the classroom, Fields is a gifted young man with the potential to have a giant senior season in 2024.
