With returning QBs, RBs, and WRS, this division should see some growth as well as an increase in touchdowns in 2024. Pequannock finished 2023 with a 6-3 record and went 5-0 within the division. With the players they are returning, it will be difficult to knock them off from the top spot. However, two up and coming programs that they have to be weary of are Kinnelon and Boonton. If there is any team I think that could make the biggest jump and go from a 2023 losing record to a division threat in 2024, it is Boonton. National Blue will be an entertaining division to watch out for next fall.
The most dangerous returning quarterback within the division, Zach Grande Zach Grande 6’1″ | 165 lbs | QB Kinnelon | 2025 NJ is ready for a big senior season. Throwing for just under 1000 yards and scoring 10 touchdowns in 2023, Kinnelon utilized the play action consistently throughout the season which gave Zach plenty of opportunities to thrive.
Though he is a smaller quarterback, the play action set him up for larger windows to throw into to hit his receivers in stride. With a deceivingly strong arm, Zach is able to place the ball where he intends deep downfield. And when you need a few yards, he is able to tuck and run to hurt defenses with his legs. Zach’s run capabilities really showed with his 10 rushing touchdowns on the season.
Justin Gryszkin
Justin Gryszkin
Pequannock has a leader on both sides of the ball in Justin Gryszkin. Arguably the most dominant offensive lineman in the division, Justin is the type of tackle you tend to run behind the majority of the game. As he drives out of his stance, Justin uses his size and strength to out leverage the defender and impose his will on them. Defensively, Justin lined up as a nose tackle where he racked up 34 tackles and 4.5 tfls. Justin will be found in opposing offenses backfield often in 2024, that’s a guarantee.
One of the versatile athletes in the division, Pequannock’s Dylan Roemmele Dylan Roemmele 5’8″ | 165 lbs | RB Pequannock | 2026 State NJ shined on both sides of the ball last season. Only a sophomore in 2023, Dylan was able to explode onto the scene as he totaled over 1000 offensive yards and 8 touchdowns out of the backfield. Running out of the Wing T, Dylan would hit the hole with speed and momentum, breaking through arm tackles on his way to the second level. Equipped with an acceleration that catches defenders off guard, Dylan carved up defenses with his quickness and elusive running style. On defense, Dylan was able to compile 44 tackles, force a fumble, and record a sack as well. Dylan is a rising star within the division.
Drew Cabalar
Drew Cabalar
A stud linebacker returning for Boonton, Drew Cabalar has been destructive to every offense he lines up against. Making 50 tackles, 2 sacks, and picking the ball off once in 2023, Drew made an impact on the field regardless of the play call. An athletic presence in the middle of the field, Drew is known for his all out effort each and every play. As a sure tackler, Drew breaks down, keeps his feet moving, and pounces on the runner, making it a challenge for the ball carrier to evade him. And when lining up on the outside Drew is able to hold the edge well to force the runner back to the inside. A playmaker on offense as well, Drew ran for 542 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2023.
Built with a burst of speed off of the line, Metin Ahmedi Metin Ahmedi 5’8″ | 165 lbs | WR Boonton | 2025 NJ is big time receiving threat for Boonton. Catching 5 touchdowns and 422 yards in 2023, Metin was set up for some big play opportunities in Boonton’s run heavy offense. A quick twitch receiver, Metin’s speed allows him to beat his man right off the line. Once the ball is in his hands, Metin can react quickly and dodge in and out of would-be tacklers. A receiver that can track the ball over his shoulder well, Metin is sure to burn some defenders in 2024.
