If there was a positive that came out of the 2023 season for the Sarasota Riverview Rams, the five losses the team had all came to either state champions, runner ups or programs who were highly regarded.

After the season ended and the coaching staff looked at what was coming back from that 8-5 season, there was plenty of optimism.

While there were some seniors who were vital to the program, head coach Joshua Smithers and his staff realized that what this program had coming back for the 2024 season would keep them in the mix.

With the off-season in full swing, the objective is to get as much experience and competition while getting bigger, faster, and stronger.

The rising senior class of 2025 will be counted on heavily – with prospects such as [player_tooltip player_id='723697' first='Nick' last='Delfau'] (P/K, 5-10, 175 – 4.8 GPA. 1440 SAT), Hank Durfree (DE, 6-4, 230 – 2.6 GPA), D.J. Johnson (RB, 5-10, 180 – 3.0 GPA), standout [player_tooltip player_id='606140' first='Jaden' last='Key'] (TE/DE, 6-3, 245 – 4.0 GPA. 33 ACT), [player_tooltip player_id='1232013' first='Landon' last='Marsters'] (LB, 6-2, 210 – 3.7 GPA), C.J. McCutcheon (OL/DL, 6-1, 260 – 3.2 GPA), [player_tooltip player_id='1232528' first='Al' last='Oliver'] (OL, 6-3, 280 – 2.9 GPA), and receiver Jaden Wheeler (5-10, 160 – 3.3 GPA) leading the way.

UNDERCLASSMEN WILL BE NEEDED

There is no doubt that when everything is said and done, the 2026 and 2027 classes will be looked upon to add quality talent and depth.

That rising junior (2026) class will feature prospects such as talented Isaiah Belt (RB, 5-9, 160 – 2.7 GPA), K.J. Brown (LB, 5-11, 200 – 3.0 GPA), Kayvon Love (DT, 5-11, 295 – 2.9 GPA), Grayson Martin (OL, 6-2, 280 – 3.3 GPA), quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='195703' first='Anthony' last='Miller'] (5-11, 175 – 4.0 GPA), and Jamaun Thompson (LB/DE, 6-1, 205 – 2.5 GPA).

The 2027 class will also be needed during the upcoming season – with Kane Callazo (OL, 6-2, 280 – 3.5 GPA), and versatile Toreyon James (RB/WR – 5-9, 160).
