I wanted to highlight several prospects who are not receiving the attention they deserve. Below, I break down five of the most underrated linebackers in the state.
Cash Aaron Pomeroy Cash Aaron Pomeroy 6’2″ | 230 lbs | LB Marionville | 2026 State MO is a talented two-way prospect out of Marionville. He has been invited to camps and showcases, but I am surprised more schools in the region have not been in contact. Watch out for his recruitment to heat up this year. Toughness, balance, and athleticism displayed as a ball carrier translates well to either side of the ball at the next level. Cash’s size, instincts, and power jumps off the tape right away quickly attacking the point of attack and slamming ball carriers to the ground. Good long speed and tackling ability shows flying down the field on kickoff. I am excited to see how Cash develops as an inside linebacker prospect during the 2024 season.
Highlights
Jeb Koetting Jeb Koetting 6’2″ | 215 lbs | LB Rockhurst | 2025 State MO recorded over 100 tackles during an impressive 2023 season. Expect him to be a high rising defender out of Kansas City this year. Good burst, instincts, and power shows running through tackles and disrupting ball carriers as they enter the point of attack. Coaches like Jeb’s combination of size and strength that shows easily shedding bigger blockers in run defense. Jeb’s quickness and closing speed highlights his potential to be a sideline-to-sideline backer at the next level. A good combination of pass rush ability and awareness in zone suggests Jeb will have a big role on third downs in a college defense.
Highlights
Mason Wright Mason Wright 6’3″ | 210 lbs | LB Park Hill South | 2026 State MO is an underrated two-sport athlete out of Park Hill South. He has attended several camps, and I am excited to see who will be the first to offer the good-sized linebacker this year. Mason’s quickness and awareness in pass coverage shows quickly identifying and disrupting screen passes in zone coverage. Flashes of nex level power shows in the contact Mason delivers when making tackles or shedding blocks. Good size, upper-body strength, instincts and athleticism highlights Mason’s potential to be a true middle linebacker in college.
Theodore Grace Theodore Grace 6’2″ | 215 lbs | LB Kearney | 2025 State MO was a leader for Kearney’s defense during their 2023 state championship run. He attended South Dakota State’s junior day this month, and I would expect more schools to invite him to campus sooner rather than later. A good combination of strength and size shows easily defeating blocks and finishing tackles at the point of attack. Theo’s awareness and quick change of direction gets displayed intercepting the ball as a zone defender. Theo’s power and acceleration shown blitzing the quarterback suggests he has a good mix of tools to contribute as a pass rusher at the next level.
Highlights
Archie Wesley Archie Wesley 6’0″ | 210 lbs | LB Platte County | 2025 State MO III has been busy in 2023. He has already visited South Dakota and been invited to four more junior days. Expect the offers to start coming in before the fall gets here. Archie looked impressive on 2023 tape flying towards the line of scrimmage and attacking ball carriers with intensity; Next level power and acceleration consistently shows when making contact with ball carriers. Good instincts and athleticism shows quickly redirecting to attack receivers as an underneath zone defender. Coaches like Archie’s experience dropping in coverage and rushing the passer.
