Multiple Kansas athletes announced their college commitments this weekend while I was out scouting club volleyball.

I will try to catch up and feature some of these new committed athletes for the rest of this week. This group of Kansas prospects has all chosen to play Division II football for MIAA programs.

[player_tooltip player_id='543073' first='Aaron' last='Henson'], LB, 6'0”, 220, Piper (Washburn)

Piper's Henson is a tackling machine. He finished his high school career with three straight seasons of 100-plus tackles at the varsity level. He ended up with a total of 366 total tackles in high school. Henson is ranked No. 62 overall in the Class of 2024.

[player_tooltip player_id='334729' first='Brady' last='VanDonge'], QB, 5'11”, 180, Basehor-Linwood (Fort Hays State)

The Fort Hays State Tigers are getting a top Kansas QB from the eastern part of the state. I saw VanDonge play multiple times this fall and he had a solid season, one in which he missed multiple offensive weapons due to injury. He has a nice footwork and an accurate arm. VanDonge is currently ranked No. 64 overall in the Class of 2024. He has multiple pass-catching weapons joining him in the Tigers' 2024 recruiting class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1103595' first='Alex' last='Parks'], WR, 5'8”, 150, Blue Valley Southwest (Nebraska Kearney)

The Lopers are getting a wideout who has never seen a ball he didn't want to catch. Parks finished his senior season with 83 receptions and gained 1,381 yards. Parks is ranked No. 75 overall among his Kansas peers in the Class of 2024. Nebraska-Kearney is getting a route runner with solid hands.

[player_tooltip player_id='415304' first='Tristen' last='Davidson'], ATH, 6'3”, 210, Kingman (Fort Hays State)

Kingman's Davidson is a big target who can create match-up problems for opposing defenses. I expect that Davidson could have an early impact on the special team units for Chris Brown's Tigers. Prep Redzone has Davidson ranked in the No. 109 slot.

[player_tooltip player_id='826368' first='Hunter' last='Mowery'], WR, 6'0” 185, Salina Central (Fort Hays State)

Mowery is a solid possession receiver who is not afraid to go over the middle of the field. The Salina Central product is ranked No. 128 in the Class of 2024. He finished his senior season with 40 catches for 700 yards and 10 touchdowns.

[player_tooltip player_id='1107719' first='Josh' last='Grimm'], OL, 6'5, 315, Sabetha (Washburn)

Grimm is ranked No. 187 overall. Grimm is a monster-sized lineman who I saw work out at two college combines last spring. His signing and the commitment of his brother Jacob show evidence that genes do play a role in one's natural ability and attending camps and clinics often pays off in the long run.

[player_tooltip player_id='1105460' first='Gabriel' last='Henriques'], OL, 6'3”, 270, Derby (Washburn)

I can't write enough good things about the class that Washburn is putting together. Henriques joins a solid group of Kansas linemen who have committed to play for Head Coach Craig Schurig. The Derby Panther is ranked No. 246 overall among his Kansas peers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1107720' first='Jacob' last='Grimm'], DL, 6'4”, 285, Sabetha (Washburn)

Grimm is ranked No. 253 overall. He will be joining his brother at Washburn. The two brothers are the second pair of brothers to commit to the Ichabods joining Washburn Rural's brother tandem of J.C. and [player_tooltip player_id='145517' first='Jaren' last='Heim'].

[player_tooltip player_id='415316' first='Alex' last='Allemang'], K, 5'8”, 170, Emporia (Emporia State)

Allemang will be playing on the same collegiate field that he did in high school. The Spartan kicker will stay close to home and kick for Garin Higgins' Emporia State Hornets.
