Recruiting: Busy First Two Days In February

<p>With National Signing Day less than a week away, the first two days of February have extremely busy on the recruiting front with a commitment, multiple offers and Junior Day. Here are the latest developments:</p>   <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='611083' first='Mason' last='Posa'] offered by Arizona</strong>: Posa, a 2025 OLB for 6A state champions La Cueva, added to his long list of schools that have offered by taking a visit to Tucson. Former UNM head coach Danny Gonzales is now on the Wildcats staff. Posa was also offered by Stanford in late January. He hosted Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire for a visit at LCHS on Jan. 29.</p>   <p><strong>Valley RB offered PWO by Lobos</strong>: Combining a powerful 6-foot-0, 215-pound frame with good speed, Valley running back <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='590712' first='Charles' last='Lopez-Burton']</strong> rushed for over 1,800 yards for the Vikings this past season. New Lobos head coach Bronco Mendenhall and his offensive coaches apparently liked what they saw on film. They visited Lopez-Burton at VHS earlier this week and offered him a PWO (preferred walk-on) opportunity with the Lobos.</p>   <p><strong>Cleveland WR commits to WNMU</strong>: Western New Mexico added a second prospect from the Albuquerque Metro region when Cleveland WR  <strong>Karter Weddle</strong> committed to the Mustangs, joining Albuquerque High OL <strong>T.J. McCarthy</strong>. Silver High QB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='815932' first='Adan' last='Jacquez']</strong> and Gadsden DL <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='815958' first='Nathaniel' last='Lopez']</strong> are also committed to WNMU, giving the Mustangs an impressive quartet of in-state commits.</p>   <p><strong>Bernalillo LB offered by New Mexico Highlands</strong>: 2025 Bernalillo OLB [player_tooltip player_id='837172' first='Gabriel' last='Trujillo'] was one of the Spartans' defensive leaders in 2023 with 88 tackles, 13.0 TFL and 10 sacks in 12 games. Trujillo was offered by New Mexico Highlands on Friday. 2024 Valencia OL <strong>Andrew Rightley</strong> and Portales WR/LB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1103881' first='Andru' last='Ontiveros']</strong> both visited NMHU on Friday.</p>   <p><strong>UTEP Junior Day Sunday</strong>: New UTEP head coach Scotty Walden has been far more aggressive recruiting New Mexico than most of his predecessors. 2024 Cleveland LB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='274701' first='Stratton' last='Shufelt']</strong> recently committed to the Miners.
