A good punter is able to set the opponent’s offense up within their own 20 yard line. Even better if its within the opponent’s 10 yard line. A good punt is able to set up the defense in good position to get the ball back. Today we will be going over some of the punters who deserve an extra look.
Scobey was an integral part of Thomas Jefferson’s special teams production. The tight end plays punter too and excels at it. His receiving stats are as follows: 32 receptions for 558 yards and 6 touchdowns. His punting stats are as follows: 27 punts for 1114 yards with 65 yards being his longest, and 14 were inside the 20. Scobey has very good kick power in tandem with very good kick accuracy makes him a formidable punter that teams need to watch out for. 51.8% of his punts were inside the 20. His ability to flip the field and put his defense in good position is phenomenal. A player deserving to be on everybody’s radar.
Highlights
The senior coming out of Elizabeth added another impressive season to his resume. Connelley plays running back and punter for Elizabeth. He does a great job at both. His running back stats for the year are as follows: 114 carries for 992 yards and 12 TDs. His punting stats are as follows: 19 punts for 701 yards , 49 yards being the longest and 10 were inside the 20. 52.6% of his punts set his opponent up within their 20 yard line. Giving his defense a great chance to capitalize and give the ball back to the offense. Connelley has good kick power and very good kick accuracy. He’s got the ability to make all the kicks/punts needed for any team.
Mason Crosby

Junior coming out of Chaparral. Mason Crosby plays kicker and punter for the Chaparral Wolverines. Crosby did a lot of punting this past season. In 10 games played, he punted the ball 53 times for 2094 yards with his longest being 78 yards and got the ball within the 20, 9 times. Crosby has a cannon for a leg. His ability to flip field position is unmatched. Crosby has very good kick power, and good kick accuracy. I had the pleasure of watching a Chaparral practice and saw first hand how good he is. He was consistently making 50+ yard field goals, and punting in great position. Talented player who needs more eyes on him.
Darin Davidson Darin Davidson 6’3″ | 180 lbs | QB Berthoud | 2024 CO had a great senior year at Berthoud. Davidson played quarterback and punter over this past season. He put up great stats for both positions. As a QB, he threw for 1190 yards, 16 TD, 0 INT, with a 63.2% completion rate. 51 carries for 289 yards and 7 touchdowns. Killer stats. As a punter, his stats are as follows: 18 punts for 771 yards, 70 yards was his longest, and 7 punts inside the 20. Davidson has very good athletic ability to be at both positions and succeed. He has very good kick power and good kick accuracy. Good ability to flip the field and put his defense in a good position. I personally think it is pretty unique to have a quarterback who also punts. Any team would be fortunate to have him on their roster, as he can contribute in a multitude of ways.
