Freshman Jack Jelinek Jack Jelinek DB Papillion-La Vista South | 2027 NE emerged as a nice gem in the Papio South secondary, putting together a great season. Jack ended the year with 16 tackles and returned an interception for a touchdown as one of the Titan’s starting cornerbacks. I don’t have much film from Jack’s freshman year, but from the games I have seen, he shows good instincts and fluidity in coverage. Jelinek quickly flips his hips and can break on the ball very well. I’m looking forward to seeing more of Jack’s tape.
Very impressive athlete from the Antler’s 2027 group! Matthew Ott Matthew Ott 6’0″ | 150 lbs | DB Elkhorn | 2027 NE had a great season playing cornerback for the Elkhorn freshman team and even showed he can impact the return game. Matt does a great job in coverage, where he looks disciplined and instinctive. He can read the QB very well and is quick to break on the ball once he sees it int he air. Good use of hands to deflect passes. Very physical and tough— Matt has no issue taking on perimeter blocks to step up and defend the run.
Max was a very interesting player to watch during this round of film-watching. He is a versatile player who goes 100% wherever you put him. Max primarily plays safety but also had plays where he was up near the line of scrimmage. In those plays, Van Horn showed some serious speed off the edge and was able to disrupt the play in the backfield. Max does project best as safety, displaying nice range and closing speed combined with quick instincts. He’s a very willing tackler who won’t hesitate to square up on the ball carrier. Good ball skills and insane motor!
