The Class of 2027 has wrapped their first year of HS football. This is always the toughest year to get film on kids, but several are starting to get their names out there and grabbing our attention at PRZ WI. Among this quickly growing group are several athletes luck enough to have JV/Freshman film or they actually saw varsity action and have film from that. That new wave of film that has come across my radar is our focus today. Coaches, make yourselves aware of these kids. They will be names to know over the next three years here in WI.
Nathan definitely grabs your attention when he checks in at 6’3″ 245 lbs, showing that his frame is starting to grow since his account was first created. The highlight film is filled with examples of him getting up to level two, clamping onto LBs, and driving them off the screen or pancaking them. Wade clearly has that nasty side you look for in an OL. Nathan also wins the power battle in the trenches vs athletes his age. The freshman is very raw, but he has the size, range, and natural strength to mold into a next level athlete.
Highlights
Tolan is an exciting playmaker who is going to have a lot of impressive plays under his belt by the time he graduates. The 5’6″ 145 lbs freshman lines up primarily at WR on offense, and they try to get him the ball quickly. That includes screens and jet sweeps or reverses. After the catch/hand off is where Tolan dominates. He has the speed to get the edge and easily wins the race to the end zone. The freshman is elusive with the ball too. He gets lost behind his linemen, has quick twitch lateral agility to make defenders miss, and his burst allows him to fly through alleys to daylight. I’m excited to see Johnson take the field this fall and continue to make the big plays.
Orville is another OL who is well on his way to looking the part of a dominant OL prospect. The freshman already stands at 6’2″ 245 lbs, and his frame brings plenty of power to the trenches. Orville is able to get hands on quickly and then resets the line of scrimmage downfield with his powerful leg drive. The freshman gets out of his stance quickly and does a good job of using leverage when making contact. Blohm also brings the range to pull and lead out in space. The early signs are positive for the Winnebago Lutheran 2027.
Highlights
Brady Lee Brady Lee 5’11” | 180 lbs | DB Aquinas | 2027 State WI pulled off an impressive freshman feat. Making an impact out at CB as a freshman on a State Championship team. There are not many athletes who can play out on an island like that and ensure an outcome this consistent and to that standard. Brady is a natural athlete with an already well rounded base of skills. He is aggressive and a good tackler on plays in front of him. He has the range to cover a deep zone and run deep with his receiver. His feet are quick and efficient, not taking wasted false steps when transitioning from his backpedal. There is also a confidence to his game that stands out on tape. I’m very excited for what is ahead of the talented freshman CB.
Bryce Austin
Bryce Austin
Racine Lutheran is home to an exceptional freshman class. Another standout on the roster is WR/DB Bryce Austin. Bryce is a smooth athlete that glides around the field, but can also hit sudden jukes to force missed tackles. The long speed gives Bryce the ability to pull away in the open field. You see it over and over on his highlights. At CB, Austin’s just as smooth in his backpedal and transition out of it to close on the ball or receiver. With his 6′ 160 lbs frame and natural athleticism, Bryce has the potential to be an impact prospect on the perimeter.
