Continue ReadingThe 2025 Rankings were updated to 125 total players ranked in the class back in January but many more are on the Watch List. These Watch List players will eventually enter the rankings in the future and are names we will be watching closely next season. Here are some WRs not currently in the rankings who you should keep an eye on in the fall.
A 2025 WR on the Watch List who could eventually rank inside our Top 100 in the future is Herbert Hoover’s Avery Pannell Avery Pannell 5’9″ | 185 lbs | WR Herbert Hoover | 2025 State WV . The 5’9 185 receiver posted his highlights after we last updated our 2025 rankings or he may have already been ranked highly. Pannell plays wideout and in the slot in high school but will most likely play purely slot at the next level. He has a quick release off of the line with next-level speed and overall quickness to be a big play threat for the Huskies. Pannell can beat defenses over the top with his speed or work inside at short and intermediate depth with YAC ability. He’s someone who can also consistently beat man coverage especially when lined up in the slot. Pannell is primed for a huge senior season and is someone who should see their stock rise in both our rankings and recruiting-wise.
Highlights
A small school receiver to know at the new Class A level is Valley’s Landen Jerico Landen Jerico 6’3″ | 190 lbs | WR Valley | 2025 WV . Jerico is a big target on the outside at 6’3 190 who could grow into a tight end one day down the road. He had some huge performances last season for the Lumberjacks making several of our weekly standouts articles in 2o23. Jerico is your classic big-bodied receiver who is more of a possession-catch receiver than someone who is going to blow by defenders. He’s a two-sport athlete at Valley where he’s currently putting together a quality junior season on the hardwood and moves well in that setting too. You can throw the ball up to him and let him use his size and bigger body to shield off smaller defenders at the small school level where he’ll have one of the more dynamic Class A players distributing him the ball in 2025 ATH Gavin Derby Gavin Derby 5’8″ | 155 lbs | ATH Valley | 2025 WV .
Highlights
Spring Valley’s Bryce Fuller Bryce Fuller 6’0″ | 155 lbs | WR Spring Valley | 2025 State WV could be considered a WR or DB prospect and earned Second Team All-MSAC honors as a DB in 2023. The Timberwolves have a talented receiver group returning in 2024 so touches were limited last season, but Fuller flashed some real potential at receiver even with limited reps. He’s also one of the top track athletes in the state and placed 8th last year in the 400-meter dash. That high-level athletic ability gives him a high ceiling as a football prospect if he chooses to go that route after high school. Fuller can be a deep ball threat for Spring Valley with classmate QB Liam McGuire Liam McGuire 6’1″ | 190 lbs | QB Spring Valley | 2025 State WV returning next season who can stretch the field with his arm with the best of them. He’s a very fluid athlete who may eventually move to DB in our rankings but is certainly a receiver worth watching in 2024 if his role increases in their offense.
Junior Zechariah Miller Zechariah Miller 6’0″ | 165 lbs | WR Lincoln County | 2025 WV was the second-leading receiver for the Lincoln County Cougars in 2023 hauling in 21 passes for 322 yards and a team-leading 4 receiving touchdowns. The best attribute that Miller flashed last season was his sure hands. He made some very impressive tough and acrobatic catches at times as a junior with quality 6’0 length to pair with it. Miller tracks the ball well in the air and is a very good over-the-shoulder receiver. He also possesses quality speed that can create separation and finds himself behind defenders at times. Miller has defensive back versatility as well and that’s a position where he could also possibly play at the next level. The move down to the new Class AAA should benefit the Lincoln County program, and Miller could be poised for a breakout senior year.
Shady Spring receiver Jalon Bailey Jalon Bailey 5’9″ | 155 lbs | WR Shady Spring | 2025 WV missed some time last season due to injury but is poised to lead the Tigers’ offense as a senior in 2024. They graduate a lot of offensive production this year, so Bailey may be called upon to carry the load in a variety of ways next season. The 5’9 155 junior is a quick and shifty slot receiver who is a very tough cover in space. Bailey flashed high-quality route running ability last season and is very dangerous after the catch as well. He does a nice job leveraging his routes and then lets his speed create separation often finding himself wide open. Bailey isn’t afraid to work in the middle of the field among traffic and will absorb big hits. Even with a shortened junior season due to injury, Bailey flashed a lot of ability and upside and is someone who could finish inside our 2025 Top 100 with a healthy senior season.
