Wichita City League 2025 Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This is report #2 covering the <strong>Greater Wichita Athletic League</strong> 2025 top ranked players, with a focus on <strong>Wichita West</strong> and <strong>Wichita East</strong> who have a combined six players in the rankings. Report #1 on the <strong>GWAL</strong> was just released (1/26/24), which covered the six players ranked from <strong>Wichita Northwest, Kapaun Mt. Carmel </strong>and <strong>Wichita Southeast</strong>.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Wichita West</strong> is building a strong core nucleus of skill players and hitters in the trenches. Coming into the 2024 season they will be led by five players ranked in the 2025 Rankings, with tandem linebacking stars in the making, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='284899' first='Mencali' last='En']</strong>, 5'10, 200, LB who is ranked <strong>#84</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='372248' first='Caleb' last='Maholmes']</strong>, 6'0, 195, LB who is ranked at <strong>#137</strong>, leading the way.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The rest of the 2025 ranked players in this report are listed below:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Wichita East</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='866492' first='Jakdyn' last='Mossallah']</strong>, 5'10, 175, DB, <strong>Wichita East</strong> is currently ranked at #128. He reads the offensive scheme quickly from his safety spot and using his sub 4.4 forty-yard dash speed, closes lightning quick on the ball. He can play any of the defensive backfield positions as a lockdown corner, a stuff-the-run strong safety, or playing centerfield as a free safety. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Wichita West</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='284899' first='Mencali' last='En']</strong>, 5'10, 200, LB, <strong>Wichita West</strong> is currently ranked at <strong>#84</strong>. An Honorable Mention All-League linebacker last year following a season in which he piled up 72 total tackles, three sacks and a fumble recovery. He also scored a 61-yard touchdown the only time he carried the ball against Wichita North. A versatile defender who can play strong safety as well as linebacker, he flows fast to the play and blows it up in the hole.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='372248' first='Caleb' last='Maholmes']</strong>, 6'0, 195, LB, <strong>Wichita West</strong> is currently ranked at <strong>#137</strong>. He was also an Honorable Mention All-League linebacker last year and one who brings a physical presence to his game. He totaled 60 tackles and was a force off the edge, gathering up five sacks on the year. An active defender who plays all over the field, he is a punishing hitter who closes quickly.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='281970' first='Jesse' last='Hardyway']</strong>, 5'10, 165, ATH, <strong>Wichita West</strong> is currently ranked <strong>#189</strong>. An athletic multi-position performer on both sides of the ball, he can be counted on as a runner, receiver, play all the defensive backfield positions, and even return kicks if needed. As a runner has an excellent burst and is patient in finding holes. He showed potential last year in a win against Wichita North when he carried 13 times for 113 yards and scored a touchdown. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Zahmere Jackson</strong>, 6'0, 185, QB, <strong>Wichita West</strong> is currently ranked at <strong>#201</strong>. Another athletic player who can fill multiple positions and play both sides of the ball as a quarterback and as a cornerback on defense. As a promising talent at quarterback showed signs of brilliance in his junior campaign executing the run-pass option and making things happen on the move. He also displayed both an excellent touch on long throws and a quick release on outs and slants.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='442343' first='James' last='Moore']</strong>, 5'11, 235, DL, <strong>Wichita West</strong> is currently ranked at <strong>#208</strong>. Another Honorable Mention All-League performer who racked up 41 total tackles, three sacks, and a fumble recovery in his junior season. An active bruiser in the trenches, he routinely splits double teams and flies to the ball quickly.
