Wednesday Film Session with the Starkville Yellowjackets

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I had some film come across my eyes this morning. It was from five players who will be returning to Starkville's football team next season. These guys were some studs this past season. Let's check it out.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Davarrius Hairston</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Hairston is guy that I think is going to be one of their leaders next season. He will be a three-year-starter that has seen a lot of competition. Imagine having to go against the receivers that he has been used to seeing every day at practice. It is not hard for him to be able to carry that over to such great play on the football field. I think that Hairston is going to be a division one prospect. When you watch his film, notice that he has some long arms. He is also an aggressive player. This young man does not mind coming up to make tackles. He can play the cornerback or safety position.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Benjamin Townes Fulford </strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I like the way that this young man moves in the trenches. He is a 6-foot-1, 285-pound guy that I think could possibly be a center as well. He does a great job of getting down the line on running plays. I noticed that he keeps a nice base when he has to handle the man directly in front of him. You will not see him getting manhandled on the field. This is a guy that I am going to be excited to see over the camp circuit this summer.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Jay Ruffin</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Ruffin is an aggressive defensive back that has great ball skills. He is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound guy that held it down at quarterback a few games as a sophomore for his team during the championship 2022 season. Ruffin is simply a baller. On the first play of his film, watch how he goes up and gets the rock. Ruffin is a talented player that needs to be looked at. He is a power five prospect all day long. Notice how he comes up to make big hits. I think that this young man is going to be a safety on the next level. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1120599' first='Donnelvin' last='Jordan']</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jordan is a tough player that is always around the football making big plays. The way he knows how to stay low and bring runners to the ground is amazing. He is a player that has the ability to be a great playmaker for a team on the college level. think that he needs to work on his speed. I will be keeping up with him next season. I was able to see him at a showcase. He is also a guy that has decent cover skills.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1217342' first='Philip' last='Swann']</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Swann is a 6-foot-5, 200-pound tight end from Starkville High School. I think that he is a guy college coaches should definitely get their eyes on. He is going to be a division one prospect all day. He has great hands and his body has the potential to hold more weight. I can see him being 215 by the time the 2024 foot all season starts. I'll be keeping up with him.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
