OL Frank Guzman – East Meck
Frank is an All-Conference Offensive Lineman from East Mecklenburg High School. He is 6’4 and 295 pounds and primarily played Left Tackle for the Eagles. One of the things I love about Frank’s game is his tenacity – he is also a gifted wrestler, and that focus reflects well on his film. I think his frame and overall athleticism project well for growth, and his best football is in front of him. He can form fit well on run blocks and has some ability to pull and get out in front on trap and power plays.
OL Jeremiah Blaylock – Chambers
Standing at 6’3 and 345 pounds, Jeremiah is a prospect with great size who projects to play center or guard on the next level. With a 3.0 GPA, Jeremiah can make line calls and recognize various defensive fronts from the center position. Jeremiah excels at drive blocking in the run game against 0 or 1 techniques lined up over him. He can snap, step, and drive well off of the football. He also can anchor in pass blocking versus defensive tackles who attempt to bull rush him down the middle.
RB Scottie Cooper – West Charlotte
I have been a fan of Scottie’s game the last couple of years as he has been one of the main offensive threats for West Charlotte’s offense. He is primarily a running back who at 5’8 and 180 pounds can get into space and go the distance in both the running game and the passing game. He has very good vision and sets up/cuts off blocks with good agility. Scottie also has some ability to catch passes out of the backfield and be a 3-down threat. He also played some defense at the safety position. Scottie can step up and make plays at critical times as well.
WR Miles Baucom – Myers Park
An All-Conference wide receiver, Miles is someone who impressed me the first time I saw him in the season opener against Charlotte Christian. Standing at 6’1, Miles has some very good agility and athleticism he uses to create separation against man coverage and make big catches downfield. Miles can run a wide variety of routes and displays strong hands catching the football. He can also recognize holes in zone coverage and sits down in them, making the quarterback’s job easier in delivering the football.
QB Brady Turriff – Sun Valley
Brady had a huge year in leading Sun Valley to the 2nd round of the state playoffs, with over 2200 passing yards and 25 touchdowns. Brady has a good pocket presence as a quarterback and does the fundamental things well in terms of footwork and throwing motion. He has good size and stature as well, standing at 6’3 and 205 pounds. Brady displays some escapability from the pocket, but he evades the rush to throw, keeping his eyes downfield to make big throws off platform for big plays.
