Prep Redzone has the details…
A dominant force in the middle of the defensive line, this 6-foot-2 270-pounder moves really well for his size and did a great job of making plays in the backfield all season long. He’s lightning quick for his size and showed plenty of power as well. He’s big and physical, but his quickness and pursuit make him tough to handle for opposing linemen in the area. A truly underrated defensive lineman in the 6A class and across the Atlanta area, Williams-Lee made 10 sacks year, showing him ability to collapse the pocket and attack the quarterback from the inside. He also made 77 total tackles and 22 TFLs on the season. He flashed D1-potential and could see his recruitment pick up over the next several months as college coaches get ahold of his impressive junior tape. He’s an underrated 6A defensive lineman on the rise.
Jamarion Cooper – Sprayberry
A versatile linebacker who can really attack the quarterback, Cooper is one of the more underrated defenders in Cobb County who flashed the ability to play at the next level throughout the 2024 season. He’s smart, instinctive, and did a great job of attacking the quarterback all season long. He may not be the biggest or fastest linebacker in the 6A class, but he’s one of the most productive defenders flying under the radar. He’s coming off a strong 2023 season where he made 7.5 sacks, giving Sprayberry a true playmaker on the defensive side of the ball. He’s a sure tackler, he’s fundamentally sound, and always gives great effort when chasing after the ball-carrier. In addition to his impressive sack total, Cooper also made 74 tackles and 8.5 TFLs.
Jayden Rubbo – Thomas County Central
An impressive defender on the rise not only in 6A, but across South Georgia, Rubbo is a tough, instinctive defender with a true nose for the football at 5-foot-10 200-pounds. Helping lead Thomas County Central to a big 6A state championship, Rubbo was a tackling machine last fall, making 108 total tackles, 21.5 TFLs, and 7.5 sacks to go along with four forced fumbles and 15 more QB pressures. A First Team All Region selection, Rubbo showed he can really get after the quarterback and make plays in the backfield. He was one of the more productive and consistent defenders for an outstanding Thomas County Central defense this year. He plays hard, runs well for his size, and knows how to tackle properly. He made play after play last fall as a junior and is easily one of the top returning pass-rushers to know about next season in the 6A class.
