British Columbia is the perfect place for this article as some of the best players including the best player for the class of 2024 (Ryder Kusch) are still uncommitted.
1. Ryder Kusch (Seaquam) – DL
Ryder Kusch is the easy choice at number one as he is not only the best player who still has to make a commitment but also the best player in the province for the class of 2024. Listed at 6’4″ 220lbs while also running the 40 yard dash in 4.89s, Ryder Kusch has all of the physical tools to be an impact defensive end at the FBS level. He primarily lined up as a 7 technique in a 4-3 defense but also showed the versatility due to his physical traits to line up as a 5 technique in 3-4 defense when called upon. Kusch is an elite run defender, combining high-end compete and motor with elite field vision. Due to his physical tools and elite field vision Kusch separated himself from the rest of the class to become the best pass rusher in western Canada. He also has a wide array of impressive pass rush moves to get to the Quarterback including a Jump Swim move and a much improving Bend move to beat Offensive Tackles which led to an absurd 82% pass rush win rate in his final game. If any NCAA FBS programs have reservations about Kusch then they don’t watch the tape because there is no reason he shouldn’t have his pick of FBS programs.
2. Dejan Guzina Dejan Guzina 6'7" | 345 lbs | OL Clarkson Football North | 2025 State CAD (Seaquam) – OL
The number two and three players on the list are only separated by the slimmest of margins as they are both offensive lineman who were anchors for their offense on top of having the ideal size that is required for FBS level prospect. Dejan Guzina Dejan Guzina 6'7" | 345 lbs | OL Clarkson Football North | 2025 State CAD also happens to be my top offensive prospect for the class of 2024 in the province. Coming in at 6’7″ 345lbs, Dejan Guzina Dejan Guzina 6'7" | 345 lbs | OL Clarkson Football North | 2025 State CAD is an absolute force on the offensive line. Guzina is a monster in the run game as he routinely creates massive holes for his running back. Guzina played primarily in a zone run scheme in which he excelled as he has excellent movement ability but he also had success on gap scheme runs as he can get downhill to second level in an instant. Guzina is also very good in pass protection as he has very good lateral movement for someone with his size. Watching the film there is no doubt that Dejan Guzina Dejan Guzina 6'7" | 345 lbs | OL Clarkson Football North | 2025 State CAD should have FBS offers as he already has a few CIS offers to choose from but he should be playing College Football in the U.S. next year.
3. Brody Munro Brody Munro 6'6" | 315 lbs | OL G.W. Graham | 2024 State CAD (G.W. Graham) – OL
Despite being listed at number three Brody Munro Brody Munro 6'6" | 315 lbs | OL G.W. Graham | 2024 State CAD has a very good case to be at number two because he is another dominate lineman form the class of 2024 in British Columbia. Listed at 6’6″ 315lbs, Munro is also very good at run blocking as he is incredibly strong and smart but his best trait is his mobility as he runs a 5.24s shuttle time combined with a forty yard dash time of 5.56s which is impressive for someone his size. Munro uses his mobility to be able to open up multiple holes in a zone run scheme as well as being able to get to the second level with ease when pulling. He is also an excellent pass blocker as he has a great pass set and his hand usage is the best in the province as he was routinely nullifying pass rushers with just his hand usage. Again it is a razor thin margin between Munro and Guzina for best offensive lineman in the province. Munro also has his choice of CIS schools to choose from but he is another player who should also have FBS offers.
4. Jaxon Allan (Lord Tweedsmuir) – ATH
The top four players on this list also happen to be in the top five players overall in the class of 2024 from B.C. and Jaxon Allan is firmly cemented in the top five. Listed at 6’0″ 180lbs, Allan projects to have the ability to be able to play as a outside linebacker or defensive back at the FBS level as he has elite speed with a high-end motor combined with the field vision of a running back to come downhill on correct angles from the second or third level of the defense. Allan primarily played as a defensive end in a two point stance as opposed to a traditional three point stance because Allan has the movement ability of a linebacker or a safety. Due to his physical tools Jaxon can truly line up anywhere inside the box for a defense whether that be at linebacker, safety or defensive end. Jaxon’s tape on top off his excellent frame is why he should have FBS offers because he’ll get on the field no matter the position he plays.
5. Cayden Nguyen (Vancouver College) – OL
You can take your pick of what position Cayden Nguyen should play at the next level as he is an excellent linebacker prospect but based on what I have seen I think he is the best interior offensive lineman in western Canada. Listed at 5’11” 215lbs, Nguyen is a supreme athlete on the inside as he runs a 4.7s 40 yard dash while being able to squat 425lbs, it shows in both pass protection and run blocking. Primarily playing as the center for the best team in the province Nguyen can get his underneath defensive lineman turn them and consistently push defensive lineman at least five yards downfield while making it look routine. Thanks to his movement ability Nguyen is an excellent puller as he is always able to get out in front of his running back. With the knowledge of a center and the movement ability of a linebacker Nguyen should make a seamless transition to offensive guard at the next level of that is what is needed. Nguyen has his choice of CIS schools but he should also have FCS offers.
6. Hudson Bromley Hudson Bromley 6'0" | 205 lbs | RB Vancouver College | 2024 State CAD (Vancouver College) – RB
The last two players on the list are the top two running backs in class of 2024 from B.C. and the only thing that separates them is the size difference because on the field there is not much of a difference. Hudson Bromley Hudson Bromley 6'0" | 205 lbs | RB Vancouver College | 2024 State CAD is an excellent all around running back who is above average at everything. Listed at 6’0″ 205lbs, Bromley is a prototypical downhill, power running back as he has an impressive ability to quickly recognize the correct hole and to get there in a hurry before any defenders can fill. Bromley is also a player who displays high end compete, strength and willingness to fight for extra yards in every situation which allows him to turn one yard gains into four yard gains. He is also someone who has the speed to separate in the open field while also being able to make quick cuts to reach the open field. Bromley is also an excellent pass blocker as he often times uses his strength and smarts to give his quarterback the extra time he needs to get the ball out. Bromley is an excellent running back prospect who has his pick of CIS schools and is someone who can play at the FCS level.
7. Lucas Shannon Lucas Shannon 5'10" | 195 lbs | RB Clarkson Football North | 2025 State CAD (Seaquam) – RB
Rounding out our list is Lucas Shannon Lucas Shannon 5'10" | 195 lbs | RB Clarkson Football North | 2025 State CAD . Lucas Shannon Lucas Shannon 5'10" | 195 lbs | RB Clarkson Football North | 2025 State CAD was a force at the running back position during his senior season as he finished with over 2000 scrimmage yards leading the province by a considerable margin. Listed at 5’11” 190lbs, Shannon is an every down back who has the ability to line up as a receiver as well as being able to run routes out of the backfield that are very high level and diverse for a running back. As a running back Shannon played primarily in a heavy zone run scheme to much success as he led the province in rushing with over 1300 yards. He is a very strong, sturdy back who bounces off of defenders with regularity and combines really impressive lower body strength, pad level and mentality to always fight for extra yards on every single down. He is also an excellent pass blocker as he uses his smarts and compete to help shore up the pocket for the quarterback. Lucas only has one CIS offer which is hard to fathom because the tape shows that this is someone who can get on the field immediately at the CIS level as a rotational back. He should have his pick of CIS schools as he is prospect that with a little development can be a star running back.
