Now that these young men have one year of high school football under their belt and tape available (most importantly). I’ll say even though it’s early to gauge, I like the upside of this class already as these are prospects I expect to break out in 2024.
Even as just a freshmen in 2023, Caleb already impressed me with his field instincts from his freshmen tape as this young man just has a steady of where to position himself with his solid vision. He also has a sound coverage area with his range as even by the early looks of his tape, he’ll develop quickly as a sideline to sideline middle linebacker. Caleb also shows off more comfort ability in pass coverage than most at his age, as continuously improving his footwork and agility will certainly add to the fluidity he shows off already with his athleticism. I would say one of the most accomplished 2027 prospects in the Dakotas, is Pierre T.F. Riggs tight end Cooper Terwilliger Cooper Terwilliger 6’5″ | 210 lbs | TE Pierre T.F. Riggs | 2027 SD . At already 6’5 215 pounds, Cooper has the big-play athleticism on tape that will already impress coaches at the next-level with how smooth he makes high-traffic catches look. He also has the basketball background I like at the tight end position as you can see that vertical rise effectively on tape. He also shows a well-versed pad-level as a blocker that creates high amounts of early leverage of his first step in which you will see him drive block into the second and sometimes even deeper into the third level. Cooper is for sure my early favorite to take the #1 overall spot in the South Dakota (and likely both Dakotas) when the 2027 rankings come out in the coming months. Twitter

Mitchell nose tackle Rocky Clark Rocky Clark 6’3″ | 280 lbs | DL Mitchell | 2027 SD is next on our list of 2027s to know out of the Dakotas, as this young man on tape looks like a bulldozer you don’t want to run into in the middle of the defensive trenches. He shows off some raw skillsets with his first step, but I like the reactive inside vision Rocky shows off to get to the ball carrier and quickly. He also shows off developing shedding ability with his quick hands that I see his growth the deeper I get into his tape. The only freshmen last year on the Mitchell Kernels looks like one to watch in 2027.
A 2027 prospect with light tape, but showed off his flashes within it is Harrisburg’s Kale Deery Kale Deery 5’9″ | 170 lbs | RB Harrisburg | 2027 SD . I like what I see early out his vision he shows between the tackles. At 5’9 170 pounds, Kale also shows off a longer catch radius than you would expect with his measurables and shows consistency with what I saw out of his rushing attack from his ability to read the field. He is a Harrisburg 2027 prospect that plays on both sides the ball, but I like the upside I see coming out of him the coming years out of a program that has a sound program for developing their players from freshmen to seniors constantly. Miles Fokken Miles Fokken 5'11" | LB Brandon Valley | 2027 SD
Miles Fokken Miles Fokken 5'11" | LB Brandon Valley | 2027 SD
Regardless of which side of the ball you watch Brandon Valley’s Miles Fokken Miles Fokken 5’11” | LB Brandon Valley | 2027 SD , you will learn quickly how much this kid loves physicality. I also already love the motor this young man plays with as there are plenty of skillsets that intrigue me with his tape. The biggest one that pops out to me is his football IQ, as whether at fullback or linebacker he persistently makes way of providing a spark whether it’s his blocking or how well he plays downhill. He pops out to me most at middle linebacker, as a prospect that plays with a lot of instincts with his first step and high level of physicality on contact. Twitter
Gavin Kloos Gavin Kloos 6'0" | 155 lbs | ATH Deuel | 2027 SD
Gavin Kloos Gavin Kloos 6'0" | 155 lbs | ATH Deuel | 2027 SD
I got a tip from former PRZ Dakotas scout Jake Evans on this one, as Deuel’s Gavin Kloos Gavin Kloos 6’0″ | 155 lbs | ATH Deuel | 2027 SD is next on our 2027 South Dakota list of prospects to know. At 6’0 155 pounds, Gavin shows off from these eyes as a long-strider that plays running back on tape, but has the positional flexibility in my eyes in the receiving core. From a development perspective, I would love to see Gavin grow over the coming years with his vision and durability getting yards after contact, as from what I saw when this kid did get into the open field there is plenty of burst at his disposal to be seen. Got a chance to watch Cooper last summer during a 7v7 tournament outside of Sioux Falls and was highly impressed as we await his freshmen tape to come out. I loved watching this kid explode with his route-running and showing off competitive hands in my evaluation last summer. At 5’11, I thought he played way bigger than what I saw and not just on offense, but both sides of the ball as there was plenty of length for Cooper to grow out of his frame over the next-3-4 years in the weight room.
