Washburn, which has one prospect among this group, and Jayhawk Conference member Butler who is also collecting Kansas prospects by the bucket full.
This report will focus on seven Kansas athletes who have committed to four-year programs, and I will feature Butler and other recent JUCO committed players when the calendar flips to February.
To my knowledge over 100 of the 330 ranked players in the Kansas Prep Redzone rankings for the Class of 2024 have committed. I also know of at least 20 players outside of the rankings who have committed.
I will continue to feature this class until June. If you are in the class of 2024, ranked or un-ranked, and you commit to a school please tag me on X. @KSScoutDeck
Jackson Voth Jackson Voth 5'11" | 185 lbs | WR Cheney | 2024 State KS , WR, 5’11”, 185, Cheney, (Kansas State)
Ranked No. 23 in his class, Voth has committed to play for Kansas State after de-committing from New Mexico State after coaching changes on the Aggie staff. Voth finished his senior season with 77 receptions and 1,039 receiving yards. He had 24 total touchdowns in his senior season for the Cheney Cardinals. Voth will add depth to the Wildcat receiving corps and could create a solid future pass-catching tandem with Libera’s Zayden Martinez Zayden Martinez 6'3" | 205 lbs | WR Liberal | 2024 State KS who has also committed to KSU.
Colton Brusven Colton Brusven 5'10" | 170 lbs | RB Tonganoxie | 2024 State KS , RB, 5’10”, 185, Tonganoxie, ’24 (Minot State)
This was an exciting announcement. I watched Brusven grow as a prospect this past season and to see him commit was a proud moment. He unofficially led all Class 4A backs rushing for 2,047 yards in 12 games played. He rushed for 28 touchdowns. The Chieftain running back has committed to the Division II Minot State Beavers. I wrote late last year that I felt like Division II schools should start going after Brusven, but expected an MIAA team not on from the Northern Sun. Brusven is currently ranked No. 37 in the Kansas Class of 2024.
Demaria’e Baker Demaria’e Baker 6'2" | 185 lbs | DB Derby | 2024 State KS , DB, 6’2”, 185, Derby, (Missouri Western)
The Missouri Western Griffons received a couple of commitments for Kansas talents this past week. Derby’s Baker is ranked No. 46 overall and will be a solid addition to the St. Joe campus. Baker is a shutdown corner who could be a factor early on Missouri Western’s special team units.
Brody Hayes Brody Hayes 5'11" | 185 lbs | ATH Clay Center | 2024 State KS , ATH, 5’11”, 185, Clay Center, (Washburn)
The Clay Center prospect is ranked No. 81. Hayes could be a player used on either side of the ball for the Ichabods. He led the Tigers with 93 total tackles in 11 games played. He played strong safety for Clay Center and collected two interceptions and four pass break-ups. On the offensive side, he accounted for 20 total touchdowns and over 1,000 total yards gained. I am impressed by both the quality and quantity of local talent headed to Washburn.
Will Linenberger Will Linenberger 6'1" | 270 lbs | OL Hays | 2024 State KS , OL, 6’1”, 270, Hays (Missouri Western)
The Griffons added to their offensive line depth with this second commitment. Linenberger can play all three positions on the offensive line. In my opinion, his best fit will be at center or guard. I like his ability to pull. He is ranked at No. 241 in the Class of 2027 Kansas rankings. I did not get to see Hays play last season, but he looks like a tough young man on film, who is willing to grind in the trenches.
Carter Charvat Carter Charvat 6'2" | 225 lbs | OL Hayden | 2024 State KS , OL, 6’2”, 225, Hayden, (Benedictine)
Charvat is listed as an offensive lineman and ranked No. 275 overall. The defensive side of the ball is where I expect he will land for the Benedictine Ravens. He dominated Class 3A opponents last season on defense and has plus speed for an interior lineman. He is versatile and the Ravens coaching staff could work him out early at multiple positions. Benedictine is an NAIA program that finished 8-3 last season in the Heart of America Conference.
Sam Hull Sam Hull 6'4" | 210 lbs | TE Humboldt | 2024 State KS , TE, 6’5”, 205, Humboldt, (Emporia State)
I love this partnership for two specific reasons. One, it shows that small-school athletes can still find collegiate homes. Secondly, that even Division II “powerhouse” programs are willing to commit to small-school Kansas prospects. Hull has a big frame and the Hornets love to throw the ball. He could easily score double-digit touchdowns once he gets settled in. Hull will be a tough red zone match-up for opposing MIAA defensive units. Hull is ranked No. 281 overall and proves the point that “it’s not all about where you are ranked, but that you are ranked.” He is a talent who will shoot up into the Top 200 when the rankings are next updated.
