For the class of 2024, many will leave the gridiron for good and move into the next chapter of their lives. However, let’s review some of the special talents that graced the field this past fall but will be gracing the stage in May.
Tyran Mosley | Wide Receiver | Kosciusko
A speedster in the truest sense of the word, Tyran Mosley (6-1, 170) poses such a threat that press overages almost lead to house calls in the quarterback’s window between the corner and safety. With a blazing 4.5 speed and impressive acceleration off the snap, Mosley has the talent to sprint past any secondary, finding open space on the back end of the defense and even outrunning double teams. He recently received offers from East Central Community College and East Mississippi Community College.
Jordan Butler | ATH | Natchez
Another speed maven, Jordan Butler (6-1, 180), recently received an offer from Christian Community College. Butler, who boasts a 4.5 speed and demonstrates impressive instincts pre-snap. Defensively, he gains significant jumps on route patterns, showcasing his athleticism with tipped passes and timely hits on receivers at the point of the catch. Post-catch, Butler excels at playing angles and solo tackling the ball carrier, exhibiting great open-field tackling skills, and his block shedding in the screen game is quick and efficient.
Offensively, Butler’s impressive route-running abilities complement his quick feet and remarkable agility, allowing him to stop on a dime with a quick change of direction. A YAC (yards after catch) producer, Butler’s open-field speed leads to explosive gains.
Darius Williams | EDGE/Linebacker | Natchez
Darius Williams (6-2, 200) emerged as a menace to offensive linemen last season. His quick feet and swift agility allow him to make short work of linemen, displaying surprising quickness in the backfield and making instinctive plays on ball carriers. Williams is a reliable tackler in the backfield, often generating momentum-shifting plays. When positioned on the edge of the formation, he excels at leading linemen to target his inside shoulder, redirecting outside runs to the exterior and creating additional traffic for ball carriers.
Williams recently visited East Central Community College and holds an offer from McPherson College
Nathan Boone | Wide Receiver | Union
Announcing his commitment to Pearl River Community College, Nathan Boone is one of the most impressive receivers you’ll find in the state of Mississippi. Standing at 6-2 and weighing 200 pounds, Boone plays with great length outside the formation, demonstrating determination as a route runner and swiftness through traffic in the middle of the field. He has mastered the art of breaking press coverage and catching quick throws behind the defender for substantial gains. Ultimately, he runs his routes with purpose, showcasing quick, fluid changes of direction and impressive open-field speed.
