Continue ReadingIt’s easy to get caught up in the offseason hype surrounding returning prospects, so much so that you forget how talented that 2024 class was. I wanted to shine some light on last season’s standouts who haven’t yet found a home for next season. I’ve included standard information about the prospect, linked their Twitter, and posted their season stats if available. There is still a TON of talent left on the boards!
Savion Hart Savion Hart 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB Saint Thomas Academy | 2024 State MN : 5’11” 195 lbs St. Thomas Academy
2023 Season Stats: 13 GP, 297 Carries, 2642 Rushing Yards, 39 TDs, 1 Fum, 8.9 YPC
Offers: Robert Morris, Georgetown, St. Thomas, North Dakota, Minot State, Saint Francis
Arguably the RB1 of his class, Hart has proven his worth on the gridiron time and time again. He was the state’s leading rusher last season and has seen his recruiting interest skyrocket recently. Statistically, he’s the best RB in the state and his tape makes that argument as well. Hart is a muscle-bound steamroller whose commitment I am eagerly awaiting.
Landon Dillon Landon Dillon 6'0" | 215 lbs | RB SMB | 2024 State MN : 6′ 215 lbs SMB (Blake)
2023 Stats: 574 Rushing Yards, 10 TDs, 7.5 YPC
Offers: UW-Eau Claire, UW-River Falls, Mankato State
An RB/ATH with a great frame, Dillon has snagged two D3 offers and one D2. One of the more patient runningbacks in his class, Dillon doesn’t rush hitting holes but rather waits for a cutback lane to open up before gashing a defense. He has a tremendous sense of balance which he shows off by continuously breaking open field tackles. Dillon has the versatility to play across the field and would make a great addition to a lot of teams.
Damon Green Damon Green 5'11" | 190 lbs | RB Eastview | 2024 State MN : 5’11” 190 lbs Eastview
Offers: Mankato State, Sioux Falls
A 3x All-District RB in Minnesota’s largest class, Green holds two NSIC offers but has yet to announce his commitment. Green is an explosive two-way player (RB/DB) who can make quick cuts in the open field. He hits holes hard and can either run over defenders or make them miss in open space. He’s shown proficiency in the screen game and is someone I would describe as a strong zone runner. Green has a collegiate upside on either side of the ball.
Damian Tapio Damian Tapio 5'7" | 180 lbs | RB Mountain Iron-Buhl | 2024 State MN : 5’7″ 180 lbs MIB
2023 Stats: 6 GP, 1016 Rushing Yards, 13 TOT
Offers: St. Scholastica, St. Olaf
A 9-man standout, Tapio has flown under the radar up until this point in terms of recruiting. Only holding a pair of MIAC offers, Tapio has proven himself an accomplished ATH (RB/LB) and wrestler. His film is absolutely nuts. Tapio got a lot of work out of the wildcat, and he put that to good use. Stiff arms, hurdles, jukes, spin moves, you name it, it’s on his tape. If Tapio decides to commit to a MIAC school, I’d expect him to see some serious playing time as a freshman.
Lex Korti Lex Korti 5'7" | 165 lbs | RB Fridley | 2024 State MN : 5’7″ 165 lbs Fridley
2023 Stats: 8 GP, 673 Rushing Yards, 6.6 YPC, 8 TDs
Offers: Concordia St. Paul, UW-River Falls, Bethel, St. Olaf, St. Scholastica
A 2x All-District RB and a 3x All-Conference track athlete, Korti has continued to see offers roll in throughout his senior year. To describe him as shifty and explosive would be a gross understatement. If you give Korti an inch in the open field, he’s going to take a mile. Unsurprisingly he boasts breakaway speed, but he pairs that with great vision which allows him to make difficult cutbacks to the tune of monster gains. When Korti bounces outside or sees green, he’s gone.
Jasen Jansen Jasen Jansen 6'2" | 220 lbs | RB Renville County West | 2024 State MN : 6’2″ 220 lbs RCW
2023 Stats: 198 Carries, 1,228 Rushing Yards, 12 TDs
I have no clue what they put in the water at Renville County West, but I want some of it. Jansen doesn’t hold any offers yet, and that is a borderline crime. His Captain America-esque build forces defenders to tackle him low, but that too is often to little avail. His tape features plays where he runs over not 1, not two, but three defenders in a 3-second span. His size doesn’t cause a detriment to his speed either. Jansen is quick and boasts the speed of someone significantly smaller. As a football fan alone, I’d love to see Jansen play in college.
Jaxsyn Schmidt Jaxsyn Schmidt 5'8" | 165 lbs | RB Moose Lake-Willow River | 2024 State MN : 5’8″ 165 lbs Moose Lake-Willow River
Schmidt was one of my favorite backs before his senior season, and if you turn on his tape he’ll probably be one of your favorite backs too. He’s a 2x State Track Medalist, who recorded 3,500 rushing yards in his high school career. I’d consider him an elite athlete. Schmidt is beyond explosive and quick. He has true game-changing speed, with great vision and phenomenal balance. He claims he runs a 4.49, and based on his tape, I believe it. Against some of the best athletes the Northern MN has to offer, he torches them. The dude needs offers ASAP.
Trent Josewski Trent Josewski 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Big Lake | 2024 State MN : 5’10” 190 lbs Big Lake
A former PrepRedzone Combine MVP, Josewski has legit 4.4 speed. He was one of my top-backs heading into his senior year and for good reason. Josewski is a dog. He has an elite jump cut, and when you pair that with that speed, it’s a nightmare for DCs. He’s got upside as a pass-catcher but should be known first and foremost as a bell cow. The fact that he doesn’t have an offer yet is wild to me.
