Cook was a bright spot for a program that had a rough 2023. Despite the program’s struggles this year, Cook was reliable and showed up week after week. He gave the offense juice and did his best to stretch the field and keep the defense on their toes. Speed is his number 1 trait and with the 6’2″ frame, he does quite a bit of damage behind enemy lines. He doesn’t throw his hands up too early and does a good job just slipping them up to make the catch. This season Cook put up 70 catches, 871 yards, and 8 TDs. While capable of hitting the big play, he was a volume player for them this year. The offense needed to move the chains and Cook was their most reliable option. He always finds a soft spot against zone coverage and gives his QB a big target. Cook is a good player on a team that is struggling, but that hasn’t slowed him down 1 bit, and that speaks volumes.

John Peters John Peters 6'0" | 150 lbs | WR Merrillville | 2025 State IN – Merrillville – WR – 6’1″ 160lbs
If there’s any WR in the class waiting to blow up, it’s Peters. He’s your twitchy athletic freak with great body control, a history of dominating in track and field, and making plays on Friday nights while starting to turn a head or 2. Peters is a bit raw in a few areas across the board, but he’s so athletic and has such good body control that he’s able to compensate while he develops. He’s got a good feel on the field and doesn’t get too high or low emotionally. He seems to be pretty level-headed, even when things aren’t going to plan. He’s a great athlete and getting the ball in his hands only leads to good things, especially down the field. Last fall he put up 400 yards and 1 TD. A “down” year compared to his Sophomore season, but still someone on the field and producing with the traits and athletic ability you’re looking for. Peters checks quite a few boxes and if he develops, he could be a premier WR at the next level.

Benny Speaker Benny Speaker 5'9" | 155 lbs | WR West Lafayette | 2025 State IN – West Lafayette – WR – 5’10” 150lbs
It only took a few plays for me to be a big fan of Speaker and his game. There are certain players who quickly understand what they can and can’t do on a field, learn their role, and impact the team, and that’s Speaker to a T. He’s quick, knows how to get open, and can get downfield. He stresses DBs with his speed and forces them to stay on their toes, yet can change direction and cut on a dime which almost always gets him wide open. His 88 catches this year back that belief. Whether it was 5 yards, 10 yards, or 20 yards, Speaker finds the zone to settle down in and convert 1st downs. 88 catches, 968 yards, and 10 TDs from him rounded out his Junior year, which really was a breakout season. Before this year, he only had 27 catches total. Speaker proved himself and his value to West Lafayette this year and should be a vital part of the offense as a senior.

Hunter Stroud Hunter Stroud 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR Martinsville | 2025 State IN – Martinsville – WR – 6’0″ 175lbs
Stroud has already kept a few coaches up late at night, and that will only continue as we head into his senior year. On offense and Special Teams, he can do a ton of damage. He’s not just fast but has a second gear that if he hits, you might as well send the PAT group on the field. I really liked that he moved around and didn’t settle in 1 spot. They force the defense to keep tabs on Stroud, which is hard to do. He’s able to beat jams off the line because he’s a bit stronger than defenders anticipate which only puts them in the negative right off the line. Stroud caught 66 passes for 950 yards and 6 TDs this year. He then added just under 750 kick return yards, including a 97-yard house call. He’s not the most refined WR, but he’s scrappy, talented, and can hit you from multiple phases. He’s even hard to bring down sometimes. Stroud is a name that should rise quickly this spring and fall if schools start to catch on.

Dante’ Workman Dante’ Workman 6'0" | 165 lbs | WR Triton | 2025 State IN – Triton – WR – 6’0″ 165lbs
Big plays and taking the top off of the defense is where Workman absolutely thrived this year. While he didn’t have a ton of receptions, to have as many yards and TDs as he did can only point to positive things. Not to mention, he’s technically a 2-way recruit. He played defense this past year as a DB and added 53 tackles to his impressive offensive output. He’s got very little wasted movement off the line and can fly in a straight line. He can change direction decently, but he’s more of a straight-line runner, but the potential to develop the route tree is there. This season he put up 29 receptions, 732 yards, and 8 TDs while showcasing what he can do. He’s got good hand/eye coordination downfield and does a great job tracking the moon balls. He doesn’t show his hands too early and can make the catch through contact. Workman had a good year and should only improve as he heads into his senior campaign.
