Daughtry Gober Daughtry Gober 5’10” | 150 lbs | ATH Hackleburg | 2027 State AL had himself a big freshman season for Hackleburg last fall that featured him making plays as a dominant wide receiver and defensive back. At wide receiver Gober is really efficient- he routinely creates great separation with his routes, has a great set of hands, and can stretch the field for big plays downfield as well. On defense, Gober can make a big impact as a defensive back, he has the athleticism and instincts to consistently break up passes and lock up opposing wide receivers. Throughout the fall, all of this and more could be seen on tape- he ended up recording 22 receptions for 350 yards and 8 touchdowns as well as 22 total tackles on defense as well. In his freshman season Gober showed just how big of an impact he has on this Hackleburg team, keep track of him going forward to continue seeing how he dominates for them!
Sye Byrd Sye Byrd 6’1″ | 190 lbs | ATH Citronelle | 2027 State AL had a seriously impressive freshman season for Citronelle last fall where he utilized his size and skills on both offense and defense all year long. Byrd is extremely impressive on offense as he is a game changing wide receiver in their passing attack. Byrd is excellent at tracking the ball, has an elite catch radius, and uses his size and athleticism to make some extremely strong catches all around the field. On defense, Byrd really showed just how reliable of a pass rusher he could be in limited snaps. He didn’t play as much on that side of the ball, but when he did, he played a huge role and routinely provided great pressure and sacks. It’s going to be really fun to continue watching Byrd play next season, as an underclassmen he has already carved out a role as a really valuable member of Citronelle’s team and he’s just going to get better.
Highlights
Elias Holtzclaw Elias Holtzclaw 5’10” | 150 lbs | WR Pike Road | 2027 State AL is looking like an electric weapon for Pike Road early on in his career, last fall he showed off some real versatility as both a rusher and passing target. Holtzclaw is explosive with the ball- he has some really impressive acceleration and speed that allow him to quickly rev up and run by defenders, and when you pair that with his ability to catch, it makes him a really valuable target in the passing game. Throughout last season Holtzclaw had a really big year, totaling up 4 carries for 34 yards on the ground and 17 receptions for 151 yards in the air as well. As Holtzclaw begins to get more and more involved in their offense, he’s going to become a dominant player for years to come.
Garrett Hendrix Garrett Hendrix 5’7″ | 145 lbs | ATH Woodland | 2027 State AL was extremely impressive for Woodland last fall as he made an impact in all three phases as a wide receiver, safety, and kick returner. Hendrix is a huge asset for them- he has some terrific athleticism and abilities with the ball in his hand that make him extremely tough to slow down or stop. When he’s playing on offense Hendrix is able to make a lot of plays in the passing game and on defense he can be super reliable tackler at every level of the field.
