The updated top 175 for the class of 2025 in the state of Kentucky has been officially published. With that being said, I wanted to take the next week or so to break down these rankings by position. After already covering the quarterbacks and running backs, I will now turn my attention to the top wide receivers and tight ends in the class of 2025 in the state of Kentucky.
Aveion Chenault continued to establish himself as one of the top players in the entire state in his class this past season. He finished his junior year with 25 receptions for 328 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games. Chenault has shown tremendous athleticism, showing the ability to go up and catch passes at their highest point, making him a match up problem in jump ball situations. He has also shown the speed to get up the field and pick up big gains after the catch. Aveion currently holds multiple Division I/Power 4 offers and I expect more to come his way as he is a high caliber wide receiver prospect.
Makhi Smith Makhi Smith 6’3″ | 180 lbs | WR Woodford County | 2025 State KY is a wide receiver that has been high on our radar for a while now. While he was only able to play in three games this past season, he continued to produce when on the field, finishing the season with four catches for 147 yards and a touchdown. Smith has explosive speed which he is able to use to blow by opposing defensive backs to create separation in the deep passing game. He is also dangerous after the catch, using his speed and elusiveness to turn short passes into big gains. Smith currently holds offers from Kentucky, Louisville, West Virginia, Western Kentucky, and Eastern Kentucky, and I expect more to come his way as he is a true Power 4 caliber wide receiver prospect.
Brock Coffman Brock Coffman 6’0″ | 160 lbs | WR Sayre School | 2025 State KY continued to establish himself as one of the top pass catchers in the state this past season. He had a very strong junior year, catching 67 passes for 1,193 yards and 24 touchdowns in 13 games. Coffman is an impressive route runner, using smooth breaks in his routes to create separation. He also has the speed to take the top off the defense in the deep passing game. Coffman also returned one punt for a touchdown and played a key role on defense, finishing this past season with nine interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) and one fumble recovery returned for a touchdown. Brock currently holds offers from Marshall, Maryland, and Eastern Kentucky, and I expect more to come his way as he has the talent to play at a Power 4 program.
Maurice Stephens Maurice Stephens 6’2″ | 170 lbs | WR Louisville Ballard | 2025 State KY is a wide receiver that has been high on our radar for a while now and continued to impress this past season. He had a strong junior year, finishing the season with 38 receptions for 630 yards and 10 touchdowns in 14 games. Stephens is a dangerous deep threat, using his speed to blow by opposing defensive backs to create separation. He also has a high catch radius, showing the ability to use his athleticism to go up and catch passes at their highest point. Stephens also scored one rushing touchdown, returned one kickoff for a touchdown, and played a key role on defense, finishing this past season with 38 tackles, one tackle for loss, and two interceptions. Stephens currently holds offers from Akron, Miami (OH), Central Michigan, and Eastern Kentucky, and I expect more to come his way as he is a true Division I caliber wide receiver.
Highlights
To wrap up our top five wide receivers in the class of 2025 in the state of Kentucky, I have Derion Talbert Derion Talbert 5’8″ | WR Frederick Douglass | 2025 State KY . He finished his junior year as his team’s leading receiver, catching 38 passes for 591 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games. Talbert is an impressive route runner, using quick breaks in his routes to create separation. He also has explosive speed which makes him a dangerous deep threat. He also showed reliability as a ball carrier, running the ball 24 times for 359 yards and three touchdowns. Talbert also proved to be a dangerous returner on special teams, returning two punts for touchdowns this past season. Derion currently holds an offer from Miami (OH) and I expect more to come his way as he is a Division I caliber wide receiver prospect.
Moving over to the tight end position, Graham Dunn Graham Dunn 6’2″ | 195 lbs | TE Frederick Douglass | 2025 State KY remains at the top spot in his class. He played a key role in the Broncos’ passing game this past season, catching 17 passes for 210 yards in 11 games. Dunn has shown the speed to pose as a vertical threat down the field and also to get up the field to pick up yards after the catch. He is also a very reliable blocker, showing the ability to pick up blocks in open space and drive his man out of the picture. Dunn currently holds offers from Eastern Kentucky and Miami (OH), and I expect more to come his way as he has the talent to play at the Division I level.
Our second and final tight end in our Top 175 players in the class of 2025 is Andrew Vrbancic Andrew Vrbancic 6’3″ | 220 lbs | TE Louisville Male | 2025 State KY from Male. Vrbancic was only able to play in three games this past season but produced when on the field, catching four passes for 82 yards. As a receiver, Vrbancic is a smooth route runner and has very reliable hands. He is also very impressive as a blocker in the run game, showing the ability to explode out of his stance and drive his man several yards down the field. Andrew doesn’t currently hold any offers but I expect some to come his way soon as he has received a nice amount of college interest and definitely has the talent to play somewhere at the next level.
