Paul was the team’s leading receiver and tackler from his WR/FS spots as a senior. He’s an active defender in the secondary that can jump passing lanes in the middle of the field showing fluidity and short-range burst in his change-of-direction. He’s a fearless tackler in the run game that shows no hesitation closing space downhill and makes reliable tackles around the second level. He shows WR-qualities in his ball skills and turnover production in coverage (4 INTs, 9 PBUs). Paul just picked up his first offer from D-III Beloit College on 1/10.
Highlights
Lopez’s recruitment has stayed steadily active since the summer, adding nine total offers at the D-III level. He’s a fast, twitchy S that can cover ground all over the field with his range and is more physical as a tackler than his size would suggest (5’8”/165). He’s a versatile piece of the secondary that can play deep middle/half or around the edge of the box as an extra run defender. Lopez’s most recent offers came from McPherson and Pacific at the end of 2023.
Highlights
Herbert was a solid contributor to Carson’s defensive front-seven as a senior this season. He’s a lengthy DE at 6’4”/210 that eats up space around the edge of the box and can get in the backfield to create negative plays. He’s a bit tall and stiff at the POA but shows workable mobility out wide in space. Herbert, who also played TE this season, should be on the radar for D-III/NAIA programs looking for available DL in Nevada.
Vakapuna was Reed’s second leading tackler behind one of the state’s leaders ( Cooper Park Cooper Park 6’1″ | 210 lbs | LB Reed | 2024 State NV ) with 88 total and 5 TFLs on the season. He’s a stout, power-build LB at 5’9”/210 that lined up at ILB and out on the edge as a senior. He maintains great pad level and leverage through the POA and shows athleticism handling the ball out of the backfield on offense. Vakapuna’s one of the better 2024 LBs still available in northern Nevada.
Luna’s a brute LT that also kicked over to C this season. He presents a powerful frame at 6’2”/205 with the upper-body strength to displace DL once he gets his hands on them. He could improve the consistency of his pad level as he tends to play too high at times, but has workable feet/mobility at his size. Luna’s natural frame and strength could see him move into an IOL role at the next level.
