To continue the series, here’s my list of some under the radar #TN2024 standouts in Hamilton County.
rnAt the top of my list of notable performers is Choosen Lokombe Choosen Lokombe 5’10” | 175 lbs | DB McCallie | 2024 State TN , a defensive back at McCallie High School. What impresses me about Lokombe is his ability to adapt to the offensive line off the snap and exert his physicality to quickly catch the running back in the pocket, showing off his ability to protect the backfield. I also like how Lokombe can read the quarterback and slip past the opposition to both apply pressure on and sack the gunslinger. Another aspect of Lokombe that stands out is his ability to lock in at the line and utilize bursts of speed to race past the opposition and force the quarterback to get rid of the ball.

Highlights
rnI am additionally impressed with Kireese Willis Kireese Willis 5’11” | 185 lbs | ATH East Hamilton | 2024 State TN , an athlete at East Hamilton High School. In addition to excellent awareness and versatility, what stands out about Willis is his ability to adapt and capitalize defensively in the air, showcasing his ability to both make quick stops and haul in the occasional interception. Another aspect of Willis that made a difference last year was his ability to contribute offensively as a receiver, utilizing his strong footwork and catching ability to haul in the short pass and maneuver his way into enemy territory. Willis proved he can outrun the entire defense, dodging and weaving tackles as he marches into the endzone for the score.

rnClaiming the number three spot on my list is Philippe Bouthot Philippe Bouthot 6’2″ | 210 lbs | LB McCallie | 2024 State TN , a linebacker at McCallie High School. What I like about Bouthot is his ability to target the rush and quickly push off the defense to drop offensive playmakers to the ground, utilizing his playmaking ability to close down space in the pocket. Another facet of Bouthot that impresses is his ability to punish the pass in the backfield, using his speed to catch receivers in the backfield and push the offense backwards. Bouthot also proved he can dodge and weave pressure and use the edge to attack the quarterback.
rnAnother skilled prospect to watch for is Josh Davis Josh Davis 6’1″ | 175 lbs | DB Ooltewah | 2024 State TN , a defensive back at Ooltewah High School. What makes Davis so impactful is his strong footwork and breakaway speed, proving he can haul in the short pass and withstand the defense as he takes it all the way to the house. Another facet of Davis that impresses is his ability to put the offense in a solid scoring position as a kick returner, shaking tackles and outrunning the entire defense on his way into the redzone. Davis also stands out defensively due to his awareness in coverage, ability to read the passing game and his efficiency in picking off the quarterback.

rnComing in at number five on my list is Blake Wolfard Blake Wolfard 6’4″ | 195 lbs | TE Signal Mountain | 2024 State TN , a tight end at Signal Mountain High School. What stands out most about Wolfard is his size and speed, showing off his ability to make the quick catch and run right through the defense. Wolfard’s aggressive playstyle, durable edge and ability to stay on his feet made him a challenging playmaker to contain. I also like Wolfard’s strong footwork and ability to utilize the edge, proving he can quickly dodge tackles and push into enemy territory. Wolfard also made a difference down the stretch with his ability to seperate himself from the opposition and be ready for the deep pass.

rnAlso worth mentioning is Balint Rendessy Balint Rendessy 6’3″ | 220 lbs | DL Baylor | 2024 State TN , a defensive lineman at Baylor High School. Rendessy stands out with his ability to read the offense like a book and catch playmakers by surprise quickly off the snap. Rendessy also showed off his ability to lock down the run game and protect the backfield. Rendessy contributes explosive speed and the ability to target the ball carrier on the kick return, utilizing bursts of speed to knock the offense to the ground. Rendessy also showcases solid positioning at the line of scrimmage, using his strength to push back against the offensive line and pull away to stop the rush at opertune moments.

rnAnother player to keep an eye on is Jaron Bell Jaron Bell 6’3″ | 235 lbs | DL Howard | 2024 State TN , a defensive lineman at Howard Tech High School. Bell’s physicality and speed off the snap made a considerable difference last season, showcasing his ability to quickly slip past openings in the pocket to apply pressure on and sack the quarterback. I also like how Bell can stop the offense from along the edge with his commanding stopping power and ability to read the gunslinger. I also like how Bell can capitalize on pressure, using his quick execution to catch the rush in the pocket, shut down space and give the offense nowhere to go.

rnAlso establishing himself last season was Tay Carter Tay Carter 6’3″ | 195 lbs | LB Notre Dame | 2024 State TN , a linebacker at Notre Dame High School. Carter stands out with his speed and catching ability, proving he can haul in short passes as well as blast past the entire defense as he marches into the endzone for the touchdown. I like Carter’s durability and versatile edge on the ground, showing off his ability to consistently shake tackles and use his feet to juke out the defense on his way to the house. Carter also impresses from along the edge, showing off his ability to react quickly and maneuver the opposition in the backfield despite limited space.
