SPOTLIGHT: 2025 DL/Edge Micah Amedee
My Spotlight interviews are dedicated and designed to attract a college coach’s attention and provide additional recruiting exposure to New England High School Football recruits. The interviews provide an unknown background on a “specific recruit” during their high school varsity playing years. The interviews include questions to recruits about the recruitment process and their current status. It involves asking questions that allow College Coaches interested in the recruit to learn more about the recruit personally.
Coach Silva: The rising junior has made a huge impression this season while transferring and attending a program in one of New England’s top private Catholic Football League. He has transformed his physical presence to be an edge defender and has drawn college interest with his performance from this 2023 season. His current height and weight align with college-level Div – 1 FBS Group of 5/or High Div-1 FCS defensive lineman. My early projection of his skill set is he will attract the attention of many Div 1 college programs moving forward.
Head Coach Al Fornaro comments about his prospect: He only became a full-time defensive starter in week four of this 2023 season versus Catholic Memorial. He ended up playing in 9 games total in his new defensive end position. He ended the season with 45 Solo Tackles, 15 Assisted Tackles, 7 Sacks, 6 tackles for loss of yardage, and 5 QB pressures. I will also mention that by the third game, he was a defensive starter people ran away from him.
Although I think he will be a tremendous edge player, we also used him inside the tackle and tried to take advantage of his ability over an offensive lineman. He has a really good first step in burst he’s very athletic and runs well. Now we get to get him in the weight room this off-season and work on his speed even more and he will be a dominant force.
Highlights
Coach Silva: What positions do you play on Varsity?
Micah Amedee Micah Amedee 6'3" | 275 lbs | DL Xaverian Brothers | 2025 State New E : DL/OL, I’ve recently been moved from O-line to a def-end position. The position switch was during a week we had to face a top opponent and stop their double wing somehow. Our coaches wanted to run a heavy defense so they put me at defensive – end. This is a position I never played before. They wanted to see what I could do. The rest is history. I have owned the position and continue to compete daily in practices and weekly in games to keep the position.
Coach Silva: What college camps did you attend over the summer of 2023?
Micah Amedee Micah Amedee 6'3" | 275 lbs | DL Xaverian Brothers | 2025 State New E : I attended Boston College camp, the only camp I could attend over the summer. I did receive interest from Harvard, which I think originated from attending the camp. I don’t know what position I’m being recruited at, but as long as I can maintain the grades I have now, I think I can soon receive a scholarship
Coach Silva: Who are some people in your family who have persuaded you or supported you to play football?
Micah Amedee Micah Amedee 6'3" | 275 lbs | DL Xaverian Brothers | 2025 State New E : My brother, Marc Amedee has persuaded me a lot especially with him being a barber and cutting a lot of NFL players hair, he tells them about me and they say that as long as I work for what I want I can get it and that motivates me so I could be in their position.

I’ve been starting since sophomore year at my former high school Silver Lake. The switch is way different from Divivion 3 football to Division 1 football. The energy in games is different. The players are way better and just the all-around game is just more intense.

Micah Amedee Micah Amedee 6'3" | 275 lbs | DL Xaverian Brothers | 2025 State New E : l want to say I could compare myself to “Jalen Carter”. He’s not the fastest but he is strong and can get in that backfield every time.
